I did a search for 'Michael Jackson' on Google News and it turned up more than 250,000 stories. Headlines included: "Michael Jackson's body moved from crypt", "Which God did the King of Pop believe in" and "Jackson wasn't ready for comeback: father". According to the U.S. Project for Excellence in Journalism, at its height, coverage of Jackson accounted for 60 percent of all news programming, with Iran coverage dropping to 7 percent. It's a statistic that didn't pass Anthony DiMaggio of Illinois State University by. He goes on to say "the mass media’s fixation on celebrity news necessarily desensitizes Americans to political news stories. Americans who consume greater amounts of celebrity news inevitably end up spending less time following political news".

Do you still want to hear more about Michael Jackson? Or if you want us journalists to just shut up about it and let him R.I.P.? Do you agree with DiMaggio that, actually, its a very serious matter because there are other, more important, stories that deserve our attention right now.

Also today, don't miss the next installment of our series on organ donation. We tell the incredible story of a young girl who's broken heart mended itself, literally. Her doctors were forced to remove a heart they had transplanted into her. They were amazed when her original heart started working properly again – on its own. Miracle of medicine? Or miracle of nature? Keep sending your thoughts on my last blog.

See you tonight at 9pm London time.

It's a free world, I want Micheal Jackson and Iran news and I don't want to choose. That's a good reason to have the internet....take control of your news and what you consume, don't be fed.

Linn   July 14th, 2009 1708 GMT

I still want to talk hear about Michael Jackson. For some reason, I feel that if he is on the news every day, people will continue to remember him. Instead of just remembering the 2 weeks around his death.. I think many other feels like this. They're not ready to let go just yet..

Jeanine   July 14th, 2009 1708 GMT

It's about time to stop writing about Michael Jackson just for the sake of writing. People want to know whether there is a new development
or not in relation to his children and his will full stop.
For you everything is news and when there isn't any you are opened to bavardage , vulgarities proned to your own imagination.
You have already created some distinct groups. The Debbie Rowe group , the Joe Jackson , Katherine Jackson etc....
For God sake be human.Stop being evil .Move on.
If you don't know the reason of his death don't say anything . WAIT FOR RESULT. Enough speculation many disrespectful and indecent.
The family is grieving , the fans are grieving we are all vulnerable, stop destroying us. Too much secondhand information. Enough is enough.Thank you.

Boyana   July 14th, 2009 1709 GMT

It's the most important new.Because a soul of an artist so strong so mighty can change the people's thinking can change the way people matter to world and the proper attitude between them

eina   July 14th, 2009 1710 GMT

we want to hear and read news more on Michael Jackson...he'll never be forgotten...

Kasia Poland   July 14th, 2009 1715 GMT

I think all loyal fans (included me) want to be up to date with information about Michael but they want true stories not speculations. It's very hard to hear all this garbage about Michael, so if you want to share leatest news about our beloved Michael please make sure its really proven in advance. I don’t agree with DiMaggio that actually there are other, more important stories then Michael, of course they are important but the same important as Michael issue.

Rico   July 14th, 2009 1729 GMT

I guess its time we leave the Kind of Pop.... to RIP

Bernadine S. Williams   July 14th, 2009 1730 GMT

Politicians are phony...celebrities, at least, are real, give me coverage on Michael Jackson any day, any time, any place, start focusing on the many good deeds he has done and not all the negatives just to give you good ratings.

Nisha   July 14th, 2009 1732 GMT

CNN you are guilty of Michael Jackon over coverage! I find it disgusting the the press nearly stalked this man when he was alive and stalking him after death. Most of the stories are just stupid! Leave this man alone and let him rest in peace. The problem is not Michael Jackson, it is Americans who loves celebrity garbage.

Steve   July 14th, 2009 1736 GMT

Enough about MJ already! Far too much. When there is no real news, media just put out anything they can find.. Just feeds into the celebrity worship prevalent today, as evidenced by those people keeping a "vigil" at the venue where Jackson WAS going to perform. One story quoted one of the fans as saying Jackson was not just a great entertainer but a "role model." Say what?

Gary   July 14th, 2009 1740 GMT

I don't mind the news covering the MJ death, I just mind the one-sided strictly bias attitude Larry King express's on his "getting old" coverage of MJ's death and all that surrounds it. Larry King needs to quit having people on who might in some small way show that maybe MJ wasn't a God or maybe foul play did take place. Lets be open with the story CNN and let both sides tell their tale, if your going to cover it at all...I love CNN, it is my homepage and on my TV more then 50% of time when it is on, so please, tell Larry to understand we have the right to hear the WHOLE story please

Rumaiya   July 14th, 2009 1743 GMT

I do want to hear more about Michael Jackson because he means the world to me and he has been an indivisible part of me since I was born and its so hard to go on without listening from him

Adi   July 14th, 2009 1744 GMT

Abused as a child, accused of child abuse
Lonely and yet drove away our loneliness with his music
Involved in so many charitable causes and yet talked about most for the scandals which may/maynot be true
Accused, castigated and treated as guilty even after being proven innocent
A child-man who never had a childhood, who tried to fulfill some childhood aspirations through the ranch and in the company of children which also was snatched away from him
A man-child who tried so hard to be a father, and (now we know for sure that he) was certainly a loving father
An individual so insecure about his appearence that he drove himself to the many facial surgeries, only to have life throw upon him an additional reason to feel insecure: vitilio

I dont know if he was a good man or bad, a child man searching for his lost childhood amonst the chilren or a child-molester
I know that life has put him through enough

I know that his songs have helped me through many moments, brought smiles on my face so many times

I wish that now, if we arent able to talk nicely about him, we at least leave him out of the gossip columns.

We are so selfish that our concience dont prick us even once when we violate a dead man's right to rest in peace.

evelyn   July 14th, 2009 1744 GMT

why shutting up about MJ STORY? he's also an important headline we all want to know all about his sudden death. cause this world is so wicked and that's why people keep dying uneccesary death, poverty and health problem i love micheal and i will never stop or talking about him

xiaobei li   July 14th, 2009 1750 GMT

I'd like to hear more from Michael Jackson latest update. He has been entertaining us for like 40 years and does he deserve our little longer time to tribute to him as return? I have been following up with CNN news on MJ issue for the last two weeks and i am definitely willing to share more of my time to do it.

katie   July 14th, 2009 1752 GMT

Michael Jackson isn't real news? But you are right, the only thing worth reading about Michael Jackson is the transcripts of interviews he gave, then you have some access to the truth about him. Even wikipedia is worth reading, for those who want to find out about the human being. But the tabloids? Like Jackson said in his life: don't read that trash, all they want to do is sell papers and will make anything up, destroy a life. Especially now so many people are coming forward to make their buck off him, saying whatever and the papers don't care whether its accurate or not, true or false.

Jaselle Drexler   July 14th, 2009 1805 GMT

Let's not be naive or idealistic. The news stations like all stations strive for ratings. The higher the ratings the more satisfied the sponsors.

João Maia Pereira   July 14th, 2009 1807 GMT

Michael Jackson is THE political news that everyone's heart is following right now. His departure has left an empty slot in every living person who danced under his tunes, leaving a sub-conscious feeling that part of us died. This means that every living soul is today acknowledging how much fun we used to have dacing and laughing before.. how much of our youth is being forgotten, how much good in hearth is still to be done.. He tought us lessons we will never forget and whatever odds he and we might face along our existance we all know his lyrics delivered THE message many politics have never managed to come accross. Why do we cry? We do so thinking of the happiness we miss and don't want now to be left behind. His joy of life inspired us and we know we do need that people like him share and promote inspiring thoughts which lead to the practice of good in mankind. The world is crying because the man in the mirror suddenly multiplies itself in every each of us, reminding us that we we're not alone, that we need each other, like he needed us and we needed him. Now it is time we let him rest, incorporating the good will in our daily actions. We might not be able to sing and dance like Michael Jackson but we sure can do it our own way. Let's just start doing it.

Naj Modak   July 14th, 2009 1819 GMT

Hi CNN,

I went to the Vigil last night at the 02 as yesterday was the first date of three that I held tickets for. I just wanted to be close to where Michael should have been and be with hundreds of people I've never met because I felt close to them through Michael and we could try help each other and celebrate his life.

We do not know what to do with ourselves at the moment we feel lost and shocked by what has happened. There are many tabloids and people out there that are using every opportunity to profit and will continue to. Although I feel MJ should rest in peace fans will continue to get together, hold vigils to celebrate Michael's life and also vent our energy as we want to search for answers as to what really happened to such a wonderful human being.

I went to his memorial last week, I went to the 02 when I first found out and I won't rest until answers have been found.

Michael will live forever.

Michael Jackson's life story is one of a kind.Michael's life story should be taught in universities the world over, because he has influenced the entire planet,he was a Genius, and should be studied by professors the world over, that one day we may figure out what made him so special.Michael displayed great love for humanity, and he was the world's biggest Philantrophist, and humaritian. He has helped more people ,than any human alive.

Teste Thomas   July 14th, 2009 1847 GMT

I still want to hear about Michael Jackson, nothing is wrong with journalist broadcasting information about the icon. The public wants to know what is going on. We love Michael Jackson and we listen to the radio, television and search on the internet to hear the latest news on him. Of course we want him to rest in peace but the public and his family wants to know what really happen to the King of Pop and how his kids are really dealing with the lost of their father. Rest in Peace....we all love you

Adnan   July 14th, 2009 1852 GMT

Keep writing about MICHAEL JACKSON. You can put other news as well on your website. Leave it to the Reader's choice as to which news they like to read.

MICHAEL will never be forgotten.....

CJ   July 14th, 2009 1857 GMT

Though t's true that there are many others dying in the world and the reality is that billions of other stories are ot there that you can't follow due to the shear mass volume, MJ's story is too compelling not to follow and be part of staying on his death case.

MJ has touched far and close, young and old, healthy and ill, important and average ppl. His moves and grooves are just too good to be true to let go of. He was is and always will be the magic in our life that we once had and just don't have to let go off for other issues posted either by CNN or others.

I must say though that there has been far too much focus and repetition about the negatives that surrounded him as opposed to the positives through out his life.

I will surely miss hearing about the latest on his life now that it's over or is it :) Long live the king. The music goes on!

With love to all the brothers and sisters out there that share my sentiments on MJ

Michael Jackson was not only an entertainment celebrity, but also a great humanitarian – why don't we hear more about all the good he has done? All news is important to someone, and Michael was important to alot of people, so yes, we want to hear whatever news there is about him – not speculation or someone's warped opinion!
Even during the most intense protests in Iran, some people in Teheran took the time to twitter their condolences for MJ!!!
So just present the facts and let us make the choice of what news we want to follow – and thank you CNN for broadcast the entire memorial service.

jit kaur   July 14th, 2009 1904 GMT

i want michael to be in the news everyday...i cannot live without him... of course i have my own instinct what is right or wrong...but i want to remember jackson for all the good things that i felt with him...he gave us music, i love to watch him on tv...i was brought out the old fashioned way..but when michael jackson songs were played on radio's my parent allowed us also to listen,..omg...i wonder what magic or healing his music did....i began having music in my life when i first hear jackson..i want him to r est in peace..but give us some time...we still need him..time will....we will let go...but pls dont stop his music...for generation and generation to come...only lucky people in this world had the opportunity to see him.... the yet to be born... just have to see his video clips.... rip micheal ...i love u michael

christine   July 14th, 2009 1906 GMT

Please write more about Michael Jackson. His stories has inspired me in so many ways. If I hear more about his tragic death, I cry but I'm happy that it has exposed a lot of anomalies in the world today. From drugs, media, press etc. We want to know what actually happened to him too and how far the investigation is going on. It's hard to stop reading news about the world's greatest entertainer. Thank you for updating us.

Adetoun adesunloye   July 14th, 2009 1911 GMT

Michael Jackson, a beautiful gift to the world. Beautiful in life, even more beautifully remembered in death. Your gentle soul shall for ever live in divine light, love, and peace, where no form of torture shall ever touch it.
All the good people of the world miss you. WE SHALL MEET AGAIN.

Elaine   July 14th, 2009 1912 GMT

I need to hear more about MJ – the void is still there, but can we have more balance, and some proper investigative reporting rather than the sensationalist hearsay debated most nights. For example, can we hear some more about vitiligo. I have seen the condtion and it makes the person look like a burn victim. But please, do it in a balanced and not a biased way.

Also what about the child molestation accuser who supposedly recanted – are you following up on this story? We want to hear facts- not fiction and rumour.

Thank you.

Emoghene Efe Pius   July 14th, 2009 1917 GMT

It is a pity that Michael died, and all his brothers could do is to make him,his casket avalliable for only 2hrs.The lying in state, should have been simultaneously world wide in all the stadia.
How was it possible that even CNN could not even trace where is body was been kept.Yes we still wants to hear of MJ bcos,He is still the greatest.May him rest perfectly in the lord.

eden   July 14th, 2009 1921 GMT

I donot known this man but I am still sad about his death. I do want to hear more about Michael Jackson.

justbride   July 14th, 2009 1924 GMT

Too much gossip on a subject and a man that did not deserve ever such tabloid stories. His death created more rumors than his entire life. I really think many of the such-called news are invented, pure exaggerations. Please stop the flood of junk news and deliver fewer but more appropriate news on the subject. The fans want to hear about MJ's children or his legacy, but enough is enough. It's hurting to see talkshows about Paris speaking to his father memorial or gossip about the funerals or else. Please, respect the man in his death, if you never respected him during his life. And please, let him rest in peace. Finally.

Betsy   July 14th, 2009 1926 GMT

I am so sick of hearing about that twisted freak of a child molester I could scream!!! This whole obsession with him indicates two fundamental facts:

1 – Our society is stupid, shallow and superficial.

2 – Our media is only interested is making money and their vehicle is hype and sensation.

OK – so he wrote a couple of catchy tunes. Who gives a sh**t? You'd think Gandhi or Mother Teresa had died. Oh wait. They didn't get that sort of attention or adulation. We are a sick, sick society!

Alex   July 14th, 2009 1928 GMT

I still want to hear more story on the pop icon cause i dont think there is any thing wrong with the journalist searching more on his death cause. I have been spending my time following up the news on his death for the past two weeks and i dont mind spend more of my time.....

maribelll   July 14th, 2009 1935 GMT

I think you shouldn't stop writing about MJ..it's kinda interesting to read about him every day. Esepcially now? when some people think he's not dead..reading those news it's like a proof..that he is dead. So my ansew is keep on writing about MJ! :)

roxanne   July 14th, 2009 1941 GMT

I think it's guilt. We are all guilty. He was a pure soul, meek, loving and kind, that God had used to bring joy into the world. We have tortured and soiled him with morbid curiosity, insults and ridicule. He died of a broken heart and now that we have finally realised what we have done, we keep on searching for his name and for his voice everywhere, as if this could bring him back. I hope the Lord will forgive me, for I too have read all that rubbish stories about poor Michael, and so I have perpetuated them. I feel as if I had lost my little brother.

Tatiana   July 14th, 2009 1946 GMT

I heard that quite a few people are tired of MJ related news and want to move on, but not fot the sake of "Michael finally finding peace" and so on, they are simply ignorant, they don't want to hear anything and want to act like nothing happened, but in fact, a big tragedy happened, it's a great, huge loss and we can't let it go that way. I want to hear more about Jackson, he should be remembered forever. But I would like to see less stuff on him based on speculations and rumours and scandals, I want to hear things concerning his life as a musician, as a great talent and philanthropist, more tribute stuff rather than these "yellow pages'" things

thank you!

Anna   July 14th, 2009 1947 GMT

I guess reading about Michael has become a bit like slowing down your car to see what happened in a roadside accident. It's a macabre fascination with his life, especially since so much of how he lived is coming to light, now that he's dead...

Bola   July 14th, 2009 2001 GMT

sure i want more on the king of pop and less of other news,he deserves it.

yaya   July 14th, 2009 2002 GMT

I want Michael to be left in peace, even if it means we know less about what happens to his kids. It's nice to know how the family's coping with his death, but the press is printing junk about the man. Even in death we will not accord him dignity & respect. I want him to be left alone & his kids to be given room to grieve the father they knew & loved, without the sensetionalist junk put out about him.

Julia   July 14th, 2009 2016 GMT

I completely agree with those ones who still wanna hear news about Michael, but however, I am dissapointed with the fact that mostly, journalists prefer talking bout scandals, unproved facts, and all that crap.
You know, Michael hated all that dirty stuff about him, why do people always remember only negative things? Why do you forget about all happiness he brought to us, about his charity and help to kids. He gave millions from his own pocket, he was trying to make our world a bit better.... Well, that's a pity people are not taking an interest in that, of course, it goes without saying such stuff does not bring enough money...

Margit   July 14th, 2009 2033 GMT

We will talk about Michael Jackson forever. Good people will live forever in our hearts...

Yours S.   July 14th, 2009 2034 GMT

Thank you CNN. Media in Europe hasn´t been as active as you have. Thank you for appreciating our need to hear from.. Michael Jackson.
He wasn´t JUST .. an artist of the century.. not ´just´.

Have I had enough of Michael or news about him? What kind of a question is that??
(Forgive me my rusty english..)

Values that he continues to symbolize, and humanity and caring which he seems to spread all over the world even after his death, is NOT enough.
I live on the other side of the world and Michael Jackson has really effected beautifully into these humanminds here in Europe.
I have NEVER FELT this kind of a togetherness, kindness and unity between strangers who just happen to love the same artist. And I have lived trough the times when music died for the first, and the second time..I mean Elvis and John Lennon.
BUT this is something else..
Michael Jackson has brought tears into the eyes of those people who never even listened to his music or didn´t even like him. (Like my metal-fan daughter..who now remembers the time when she was little and danced ´black or white´ like never before. She´s an adult now..and it seems that Michael never lost the place in her heart that he achieved one day, long time ago :´( !)

Michael Jackson represents our inner child, dreams and hope. He gave (literally) his heart to his fans. As we can see clearly from those interviews from the past..he was constantly forced to protect his right to exist as a humanbeing... forced to answer to those mean questions that were nothing but ridiculous.
I hated the world the day he died, I hated our race ´humanbeings´..This is a cruel cruel world. I have loved Michael Jackson (the person) for 30 years. I have admired his child-like personality all the way. He is our Peter Pan, not just The King of Pop.
I just can´t understand that this world never believed in fairytales with him. It should have...
Waiting for the resent MJ news..and waiting to get to travel to Never(Never)Land someday, soon.
There was beauty in the world.. shine your light Michael*

Lenin Williams   July 14th, 2009 2038 GMT

The importance that is ascribed to some people directly relate to their significance. For millions of people, Michael Jackson isn't just "a celebrity", he is an icon, an outstanding humanitarian and an uber important historical figure.

I don't think anyone complained about the excessive coverage given to the death of Princess Diana- she undoubtedly made a difference in this world, as did Michael Jackson. No one had any serious qualms when the world froze to witness her farewell. Is Michael Jackson any less deserving??? He has affected my life and the lives of millions more than any artist, performer, monarch or politician ever could. The unbelievable worldwide outpouring of grief and the continuing tributes is a testament to that FACT that his death was an international event. His eccentricities and personal trials does not make him any less of a human being. He should be talked about as long as people want to hear about him and they still do.

I do believe that some of the reporting is evasive, irresponsible and callous and some aspects of his life should just simply be respected and kept away from the public eye, but to abrubtly cease any mention of him in the news so soon after his death would be to disregard his impact on our culture and to ignore the millions of grieving fans who are still trying to accept this great loss. Very soon the media would have forgotten about his death, so in the meantime, a lingering memory should not offend. Let us exercise some empathy...

larry_sha83   July 14th, 2009 2038 GMT

I never post comments on blogs, but i feel i should say something about the michael jackson saga. I believe it is just as important as politics. Why because the whole world would like to know what really happened. Forget the speculations. People just wanna know the truth. This man was an icon. He imparted generations and indeed, we can say that he contributed o the history of music. Pop music specifically.

Dan   July 14th, 2009 2040 GMT

VINEA F   July 14th, 2009 2052 GMT

Thanks to CNN for a wonderful opportunity given to the people to express their feelings about MJ, who not only the greatest entertainer that walked the earth but also have a loving, giving and humble heart. I believe MJ's music always transcends good morals and good educations that people should listen carefully to and learn from it. Lets all get behind his beloved children now and pray that they will live a beautiful peaceful life without fingerpointing and judgements passed on to them unnecessarily. Wish them the best of luck throughout their life and God bless their souls.

claudio   July 14th, 2009 2057 GMT

Michael Jackson is a planetary music star, and the people don't want to miss him so have a news everyday post your dead it is like he is alive again. It is more difficult to remove from all the world mind the best singer & dancer of all times.

Dessy, Sofia, Bulgaria   July 14th, 2009 2102 GMT

I am watching CNN constantly for the last 3 weeks, more than I have watched it in total for the whole my life so far.

I want to know what the truth about Michael Jackson is! The world needs that!

So please DO NOT STOP showing that but concentrate on the real, important facts not on some tabloid stories.

Thank You for the efforts!

Long Live The King!!!

Vesna   July 14th, 2009 2125 GMT

I would like to thank CNN for their coverage of Michael Jackson. He was not only the great entertainer but also a huge humanitarian and he touched heart and soul of so many people around the world.
So yes...I would like to hear and read any news about MJ because if anyone did, he deserved it.

You have to talk about Michael Jackson every day! This is the most important case now. The death of a legend isn`t something for a couple of days! MJ deserves all the attention and appreciation of the world! You have to search and inform people about the serious news around him. CNN isn`t just a US TV, it`s for the people all around the world!

hashir   July 14th, 2009 2132 GMT

J   July 14th, 2009 2136 GMT

You, MEDIA brought it up since he was a kid.... we heard quite everything possible bout this man,.... good and really bad stuff...specially allegations like, rapist, pedo, wacko. You MEDIA, destroyed his carrer & life covering all kinda crap supposing that was the real truth, showing and pointing him with a finger. Now you complaining that people want to know more about his life and the way he died, using Narcotics to alleviate the moral pain and suffering that you, the MEDIA caused,
You did exactly the same with Princess Diana, remember?
How many victims have to die because of you, the MEDIA?
If people want to know more and more about Michael Jackson, DON'T COMPLAIN, YOU BROUGHT IT UP!!!

Yours S.   July 14th, 2009 2137 GMT

Post scriptum..

Does the WORLD need him still...?

Please keep us up to date with Michael Jackson. As we feel there are still alot of unanswered questions about his death. Also the children are a great concern of mine, as I feel they should be left with their grandmother because who knows them better then her.

russell   July 14th, 2009 2140 GMT

MJ hasn't even been buried yet, cause of death not yet known,so yes,it is still topical news. The guy has been in the public square for at least 40 yrs-Amedine-who?
I think the coverage is deserved, but there is also too much speculation whilst the results of the autopsy are not available. After that they'll be yet another deluge of speculation and 'expert' opinion on a whole lot of talk shows.Pple who are fed up already can always change the channel or website to get or read other news.

Raschid   July 14th, 2009 2142 GMT

Michael Jackson was a genius, a humanitarian and a fascinating human being. These are just a few of the many reasons we love him. I feel like I lost a soulmate, because he made me feel like I could identify with him. And the people who seem to hate and dislike him... well, I don't care what they think (and I'm sure all his fans and friends feel this way).
But if the media want to print news about this great man, let them try to focus on the positive instead of the negative. I know, that's out of character for most of these media, but it's time that we demand some decency from them. Let's just tell it like it is: All the negative publicity, all the slander, all the lies about Michael were the things that in the end killed him!
Michael was my hero and he will not be forgotten (unlike the envious, mediocre people who want to put him down). He will live on, both in heaven and here on earth.

Sandra   July 14th, 2009 2159 GMT

The world need to read or hear more about Michael! Not the speculations or the false sordid stories. But the BIG human being and spectacular Artist he was. It´s need proper journalist investigation, with the interviews he gave, with the statement of his closest friends and family. Don´t give us just hearsay or tabloid news. Give us the news supported with facts.

Emanuel   July 14th, 2009 2200 GMT

Only when all children of this world get all the care and attention they need from us adults, then we can stop talking about the Michael Jackson and his message that he left for our present and future on this planet... not sooner than that! Let's pick up Michaels credo and give all the attention to the education, care and love to the children. This is the only way to heal the world. No chance anymore to chance us adults...

I still remember every album he did and that is a memory for me , but I hope one of his children will take after him because he is awesome and will never be again but to his children yes I think he will be an inspiration for them to be like him .

Richard   July 14th, 2009 2210 GMT

Political and international news please. It's fine to run Jackson stories, but there isn't a need to post and update on every rumor.

My daughter asked me to add also this.
Please think what you see, hear it, feel it.

I still want to find out information about Michael Jackson

Elly   July 14th, 2009 2242 GMT

Michael Jackson was one of the finest people that ever walked this planet. Magnificent human
Being, Artist, the Philantropist. I, too, like feel guilty of not caring enough while
He was still around, and it is the indifferent majority that lets the bad things happen. The media has
Been hounding him ever since he was born. And the coverage has been less than
Accurate even by the lowest of standards, a disgrace to serious journalism.
We owe it to the man to have his good name restored forever.

Claudia   July 14th, 2009 2244 GMT

I request CNN to prove their sources before publishing information about MJJ otherwise you're acting like a tabloid and have no credit. Thank you

Maria   July 14th, 2009 2245 GMT

Please consider you're not only informing people in United States, I'm from Costa Rica and you guys are the only ones that inform us about Michael, he was loved in many countries besides EUA and Europe, thanks.

Elly   July 14th, 2009 2252 GMT

Bitter remorse for teasing a classmate for being MJ's fan back in 1995

Sharon   July 14th, 2009 2259 GMT

The worst thing anyone can do is attack someone who cannot defend himself and that is what many journalist are doing after Michaels death. This is indeed very, very sad and it pains my heart. I do feel for his children. The thing that upsets me is that everyone wants to make a buck off of Michael. Jermaine and Michaels father is just seing dollar signs and don't care for Michaels wishes. Sad very sad.

Bryan   July 14th, 2009 2307 GMT

I really feel very sad about Michael Jackson´s passing away. I cannot stop feeling sad about how much he had to stand from mean journalism that destroyed him in every sense. He will never be replaced...

I also believe that there are, at the same, other issues to be covered, like the Colombian situation concerning the need to prosecute and condemn the paramilitia who not only desplaced but also have tortured and killed thousands of innocent civilians. The international community has not yet showed interest to at least publish and try to unveil the actual Colombian politicians and businessmen who paid or protected these criminals (many of whom are already directing the most important political positions in Alvaro Uribe´s goverment).

karey   July 14th, 2009 2312 GMT

I think we should let Michael rest in peace ...... enough already!

Everyone is coming out of the woodworks and spreading a lot of crap about him 3/4 of this is sooo untrue. He never molested any children and he is not gay, people just love to feed on the negative crap that is spreading about him, what we need to do is mentally walk around in his shoe, hence we would feel how he felt . What happen to integrity, decency and truth, these are some of the things that have burden him for years. This man has done a lot for many, too bad he didnot realized the love that was out there for him I can just imagine how unlove he felt at times. WE LOVE YOU, MICHAEL REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER.

irene   July 14th, 2009 2313 GMT

I am not a Michael Jackson fan but I grew up with his music. And it's hard to explain how someone whom i didnt even see personally not even in his concert touched my heart like this. When he died,I felt that a part of me died too.I always believed that Michael Jackson was a good man but because of his fame and popularity media destroyed, accused and ruined his life. When he was still alive, all the negative things was thrown into him.Michael Jackson will never be forgotten. He brought joys, tears and happiness to all of us..We love you Michael and you will remain in our heart FOREVER.

Natasha   July 14th, 2009 2316 GMT

I had not realized how much Michael meant to me until now. I am very sad to find out now about details of his personal life that unveil his long suffering as a human being. It is a shame that he was not respected. It is a shame that people took advantage of his personality features to make money...There should be a campeign to force mean people to stop using insulting nicknames to refer to him!!!! Michael, you will always be the best. I love you!

Peter   July 14th, 2009 2317 GMT

I agree that celebrity news desensitizes most people to other issues, and is very well one of the reason why people are less involved in government issues and government as a whole. The lack exposure to more critical issues is attributing to the lack of desire to be more involved in politics. In America we had more voters for American Idol than the presidential election. That's pathetic.

However, we do need to recognize that Michael Jackson is an icon that helped shape American pop culture. How many times do you see people from all over the world, in conflicting countries, involved over one thing, person, issues, etc? That means something.

Ted Sidious   July 14th, 2009 2326 GMT

Why comment here when any comments critical of CNN journalism will be dutifully removed before they are posted ?

CNN is a farce of journalism because you have fallen into the pit of sensationalism, forgetting how important backing your information and reporting with verifiable fact is. Forgetting how comparison and proportion matter when giving your readers a sense of proportion. Swine Flu is the latest example, yet swine flu which was about to wipe us off the earth according to your own reporting merely weeks ago died because MJ died and thus became the new News theme and anchor point...

MJ's death is the news these days because nothing else has struck reporters as worthy of toppling this story as the main story. Even if that means reporting 3rd party interviews which were paid for in a quest for sensational quotes.

King of Pop   July 15th, 2009 002 GMT

i want to hear about michael :(

silvia   July 15th, 2009 029 GMT

Unbelievable! YOU journalists have destroyed him with all the rubbish you've been making up for decades just to sell your garbage magazines , carefully choosing only the most scandalous and weird stories , totally neglecting the facts that were true and could "clean up " his public image, now You ask if it's enough?! NO , it's not enough , if you had a bit of humanity you should be at least objective and honest , but i guess that's not what most journalists are these days; Stop writing shit and start writing the real facts about the most amazing , gifted ,thoughtul and sensitive artist that ever lived in this world ;we feel like you killed someone that was family, shame on YOU

Stephen Copenhagen   July 15th, 2009 035 GMT

What could be more important than being reminded that your human. Thats exactly what happened to me after the initial shock to my system had settled on hearing of the death of Michael. I didnt realise how much he had influenced me. I have be enjoying his music from the start and all the memories came flooding back like they had never went away.
He had touched my heart just like countless other millions and if thats not important what is ? Of course there are urgent issue´s that need reporting there always are the world turns and with it brings change. But this was different, this was something really special happening globally.
Is he tabloid fodder?
There are plenty of things to write about Michael Jackson but I see very little creative effort most of it being short term sensationalism which unfortunately follows his name like the wind. We must never forget this man and his wonderful talent to remind that life can be magical..

JC   July 15th, 2009 042 GMT

A note from Tokyo.

Yes, I will want to closely follow what is happening to Michael Jackson. I want to hear the truth, not the junk tabloid news that was surrounding him once when he was with us before. As João Maia Pereira said, many many people grew up with Michael Jackson's music all over the world. As he's gone, part of us went with him. I feel very very sad and empty without him here anymore. Michael Jackson's story is extremely important to many of us all over the world. He is part of our lives.

Yes, I also want to hear news of any other political news that affect the well being of us. But after all, no more junk, made-up news that is created by tabloid. Please keep the highest standard of professionalism and integrity as being a journalist to tell the world the TRUTH of what is going on in our world.

Thanks!!

The name : JESUS CHRIST is the (First(1st) (No.1) greatest , most popular and famous name , EVER LIVED ON EARTH (Devine)

Michael Jackson is the (SECOND(2) most popular and most famous name so far the earth began.

Coca Cola: if Considered names is the (third(3) on earth ,though a brand but is ubiquitous as in the first and second.

Vanessa   July 15th, 2009 055 GMT

His joy of life inspired us...love Michael

Ogo   July 15th, 2009 058 GMT

Michael Jackson was a great man and he will be remembered.
It is true that he was a tabloid fodder. But it is not he who was the problem. Journalists, paparazzi and other feeding the tabloids with stupid news are the problem. He was just a man trying to live a life, raise kids, yet he was hunted as some animal. :(

Adetoun   July 15th, 2009 104 GMT

Whether we hear of Michael Jackson from CNN,ABC News, CBS News or other news media or they all conspire to black out good news on him, the genius that was MJ would always be heard of and listened to each time and anywhere his music is played. All the children touched by his charities would continue to hear of him in their hearts as long as they live.It is an unnecessary question to ask if we want to continue hearing about MJ, just as it is unnecessary for Congress to pass a resolution making him a LEGEND, because long after all the Congress men and women are gone and forgotten, MJ, THE WORLD ACCLAIMED LEGEND WOULD REMAIN VERY FRESH AS LONG AS THIS PLANET REMAINS IN EXISTENCE.

Lisa   July 15th, 2009 114 GMT

I believe that Michael Jackson should still be talked/written about. And I believe that all other news should also be talked/written about. I also worry that people are going to forget him all too easily now that he is no longer with us – may he rest in peace – but he and his artistry had such an enormous effect on the WHOLE world in ways other than just making people love his music. I hope he is continuously recognised as an unofficial POLITICAL figure in our history as much as he is a genius musician.

Simon   July 15th, 2009 116 GMT

I think you should cover Michael Jackson's IMPORTANT issues like what killed him, who have been the shady people in his life that gave him access to those drugs, his children and who will get custody and so on. And stop focusing on the junk. For instance:
who cares about how Bubbles is doing! That article you published about it last week was demented! That's what you should stop doing!

JS   July 15th, 2009 124 GMT

I am usually an apathetic person and this is the first time i comment on CNN. I liked Michael Jackson songs but wasn't certainly his biggest fan.

On the day he died, i started searching more information about him and since then tears have been flowing.
Not because of his talent, which he undisputedly hold, but for the PERSON who give SO MUCH LOVE for the world – the world that can turn its back and be so judgemental on him.

He's the biggest star in 80s – 90s, yet when you listen to him, he has the most humblest heart , most of us ordinary men cant achieve.

When you listen to the interviews, reporters can get so disrespecful, so patronising – treating him as if he's an elephant man. Yet Michael stay polite through it all.

He cares so much for children, he's been consistent in saying that since he won that 8 grammys in '84. But these days skepticism takes over us – the world cannot comprehend an adult is capable of loving and just pure playing with kids without nasty whatsoever intentions.

To be treated, judged, and ridiculed so bad, and still opening his heart, wow .. what a pure, big heart it takes...

Michael actions moves my very core soul and I thank him so much for that.

I would love to hear more of Michael Jackson, please let the world see his true side !

Reading others comments convinces me that there's plenty of us see from our hearts and feel the same way :)

I dearly hope more people can be moved by his actions.
Everybody should learn from him and learn from this mistake so the tragedy never repeat itself to other humble pure-hearted beings.

titanium9productions   July 15th, 2009 151 GMT

Michael will stay in the media for a long time and journalists can deal with it now JUST as they hounded him when he was alive. What goes around will come around people. Michael is here to stay, so suck it up and write more about him!

Stephanie   July 15th, 2009 152 GMT

All I want to see and hear from the media, especially CNN is your objectivity over the world's happening.
WHAT I AM MORE INTERESTED IN WILL BE CHANGING YOUR LARRY KING WITH THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW...

LET'S ALL BE CLEAR THAT LARRY KING IS FAR FROM AN INVESTIGATOR AND HE SHOULD JUST SHUT UP, TAKE HIS EARLY PENSIONS AND BE GONE FROM THE MEDIA!!!

I DONT WANT TO SEE HIM COVERING MJ STORIES, HE'S FAR FROM BEING A MEDIA PROFESSIONAL...!!!!

Karla   July 15th, 2009 202 GMT

The only reason that I started to see CNN in english was the coverage of Michael Jackson's death.
I know that there are more importants things in the world. But he mark a difference. The singers we have now are Who they are because of Michael.
I understand that not all is about Michael, but come on, how many people in the hole world knows about it. HE IS THE ONLY, AND THE ONLY ONE. That's the reason!!!

Mariss   July 15th, 2009 211 GMT

I just want to hear about MJ everyday. I feel so sad about him and sorry for his family. I know his life is finished but he will be my inspiration forever

Mariss   July 15th, 2009 224 GMT

I feel very sad for Michael Jackson and i know that his fans want to hear about his news everyday, so do i. I didn't hear much on his songs but i've seen him eversince, on TV. I was chock when i heard the news about his death. I read more about his life and watched more about his music vedio. The more i watch, the more i fell in love with him(i mean his talent). I feel so sorry if someone really plan to kill him. He was not deserve that. Anyway, he will be in my heart and his fans forever. I'll always pray for his family

I am writing from Italy and I would like to share some opinions with you on the other side of the globe. Usually I do not chat, I do not visit blogs and use internet mostly for work or research reasons but since mr Jackson's passing I had to follow the news on th web because in Italy there is not full coverage of the event. I think we all have to learn a lesson from what happened and "make a change" so that the troubles I have realized Mr Jackson had to endure in his life will not be suffered by other people.
1)arts are some of the few things which make this life worth living
2)music industry and show business in general should remember that they survive only thanks to the talent of a handful of gifted people who deserve protection and respect instead of being squeezed up and trampled on
3)any person although famous must be granted the right to live his private life as he considers appropriate
4)gossips are not news and all decent people need to understand they have a keyrole in the defying of the infectious virus spread by tabloids and second hand tv programmes simply refusing to buy or watch them. I invite all the readers to do all possible to stop this vile and filthy habit to use media for disgusting witches' quests or to satisfy the arrogance and greed of some shameless so called journalists ready to sacrify the truth in favour of a higher position or income. There are no excuses for making false allegations, vicious speculations and eventually destroying a life
5) with reference to Mr Jackson I think that it is absolutely normal for fans to browse trough the web to get information about him. His death was unexpected and covered by a certain degree of mistery and it takes time to get used to the fact he is not here anymore. One needs to feel him closer and simply does not want to let him go
6) unfortunately there are plenty of sad news in the world to be upset for or to talk about but since millions of people are mourning in deep sorrow , out of respect for them, i have the impression it is not possible to simply avoid the subject. (plus what I said at number one)
7)last but not least: a man is innocent until he is proven guilty whatever he may appear or behave. There many things I am not sure of, but this principle needs to be considered not negotiable under any circumstance.
8)if there were more kindness and respect and consideration in this world I am sure there were less bad news to talk about and certainly we will not be here making such discussion. But it is never too late "to make that change"
Thanks for your attention

Alex Dumitru   July 15th, 2009 817 GMT

It's only natural we need to hear more about Michael, he's far more than just an entertainer. He's made the difference that most politicians are failing to and much more. MJ has changed the world of many – that's why we're here, discussing him in the 'connect the world' area. His tireless efforts to convey important messages to the humanity – sometimes even to his own belittlement – paid off. I would like more coverage on that. Alas the inspiration quality in a person – the graciousness – is not 'hot news'. Tabloids are interested in the "mundane"(as in ridiculous allegations and speculations), that's their fodder. Through his art, Michael always tried to confront the 'hounding media in hysteria', you know, the one that eventually took a toll on him.

However, CNN has managed to present facts in a decent manner, so please continue to do so. MJ may be just a headline to you, but to millions he is like family, so please treat that with utmost respect. We are still grieving, it still feels surreal, we still want to know what exactly happened and how was that possible. Bottom line, I need to say that I will live my life in a way to honour Michael Jackson and do my best to make That Change.

Razvy S.   July 15th, 2009 1128 GMT

First off, what kind of question is that?? NO, we can not be tired of hearing about MJ – we need him. What we don't need is the sappy poor excuses of reports – a bunch of utter shameless lies – that you media have for too long managed to bring upon this man. Careful, we are talking about one of the greatest people who ever graced this earth. He was forced to grow up in the limelight and always tried to explain himself why some would see him 'weird' (because you media induced that perspective again). It was not a normal upbringing and you knew it, yet judged every little thing about this man – how ridiculous to microscope him like that. Michael adored children – the most complete, sincere, unconditional, rarely seen love – he understood they are the 'channel' to the salvation of this planet.. yet you twisted his image into a 'pedo'. But he did not give up, he sticked to his beliefs (!). He lost 40 lbs in 5 months of trial, he was irreversibly damaged to the bottom of his being – yet he stood true to himself. He was eccentric, as genius are – yet you called him names, you distorted his image into 'freak' – how very disrespectful and outrageous for this gentle giant called Jackson.

But people knew. People did not take in all the 'junk food' yall were feeding us. Michael was – in contrast to his almost supernatural image on stage – a most delicate, tolerant, compassionate, loving and hear this – forgiving – individual. You forgot he had a heart (that you so unceasingly managed to abuse and cause pain to – but did not alter). A great heart that tragically stopped beating three weeks ago. And i guarantee you, there are millions out there who would have taken out their own hearts and give it to Michael JAckson if that had saved him. So i think that puts an end to your (rhetorical) question. No words can describe the impact Michael's had on so many, on all levels – so there is no scale to measure how much the world needs to hear of him. Not about 'ghosts' haunting Neverland or other silly speculations – let it be facts this time. Let it be the professional, respectful reports I have the trust Cnn can put together. And one more thing if I may, please – wipe your reporters' big grin off their faces when talking about Michael these days – it doesn't feel appropriate. The world hasn't dried their tears. Yes, he's made us smile and will continue to do so, but let us first put to rest the cycle of unfortunate events that took him away from us. It is of global meaningfulness.Thank you.

Linda   July 15th, 2009 1927 GMT

Yes. I would like to hear more about Michael Jackson. He meant a lot to me. Thanks.

realto   July 15th, 2009 2343 GMT

Some of you people sound like you will consume any news at all about MJ at the same time as complaining of media treatment of him before and after death. Don't you see that your consumption of celebrity gossip/trash news is what fuels the whole thing?

Joe Stefano   July 20th, 2009 1720 GMT
