Gravel-voiced Canadian rocker Bryan Adams has been entertaining crowds for nearly 30 years.

In recent years Bryan Adams has been snapping as much as rocking.
In recent years Bryan Adams has been snapping as much as rocking.

The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter has sold more than 65 million albums worldwide, has 21 top ten hits to his name, and has achieved a number one record in 40 countries .“(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” – the theme to the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves – stayed at the top of the charts for a phenomenal 16 consecutive weeks in the UK singles charts.

When Adams recently got wind of Disney's intention to use his hit “Summer of 69” in their new comedy “Old Dogs” he called them up to thank them, and in doing so, ended up agreeing to write an original song “You’ve been a Friend to Me” for the movie’s soundtrack.

Adams is also a highly skilled and prolific photographer – having been art director on many fashion shoots and has taken photos of everyone from Mick Jagger to Queen Elizabeth II.

Adams uses the money he raises through photography to fund charitable projects. "The Bryan Adams Foundation" works to provide education opportunities for children worldwide.

Post your questions to the rock legend, photographer and philanthropist here and we’ll put a selection to him on Monday’s show.

I have always loved your music because it's straight-forward and you don't act cool – you ARE cool. Who is your favorite contemporary artist and why?

Kelly   November 27th, 2009 1823 GMT

Been a fan 30 years and counting.....Bryan, how much say/control do you have with your tours in regards to the cities and venues that you play?

Karen   November 27th, 2009 1848 GMT

bryan,
you have done so much in your career, with music, films, photography, charity work, greenpeace and your own foundation, whats in store for you next, anything you would like to do that you haven't yet?

Moiz   November 28th, 2009 432 GMT

I've grown up listening to you. Some of the best times of my life are associated with your music.
As a budding musician I wondered....Creativity and Deadlines, True Art and Commerciality; how do you balance?

Also, what kind of tips/advice would you give to someone who's looking for a career in the music industry?

Rae   November 28th, 2009 437 GMT

As a person with so many talents in so many arenas a lot has been written and said about you; what is the most hurtful/spiteful thing you have read or heard about yourself and how did you deal with it?

RosannaDiana   November 28th, 2009 448 GMT

Hey Bryan!

I'm a big fan.

I'm very curious why we can't buy the "Diana" song on CD?

It's my personal favorite.

Hope it shows up in some collection soon!

I love your songs specially that Gravel voice of yours, which I have been trying to copy since I was a kid and now I can speak English ,and people here in my country love your music too, even though English is not our language ,tell me is it true that you lived in Angola for couple of years? When are you coming here?
We look forward to see you here

dj geniuz   November 28th, 2009 543 GMT

I love your songs. When will you do tour to indonesia? Thank you.

Nikki Botha   November 28th, 2009 548 GMT

Dear Bryan

I know you love animals. Three years ago I emailed you in connection with the Namibian seal slaughter (second biggest after Canada) and your manager replied that you had too many commitments. Please would you reconsider and be the voice for this cause? These animals really do need all the help they can get as they are slowly but surely, despite government sanctioned reports, being exterminated.

Bryan, do you still go to Mustique?

Carlos   November 28th, 2009 734 GMT

First of all, congratulations for your kids foundation, God bless.
Your career has brought so much joy and happiness to millions of persons around the world -like me- through the deep feelings and emotions that are the essence of your songs. They make the soul vibrate.
My question is, of all you ballads, which one is your favourite, and why?
(Mine is: "Nothing I've ever known", from the Spirit movie)

Brian, looking back all those years, was Fame worth the sacrifice you had to make to attain it?? Thanks RH

Brian Babcock   November 28th, 2009 824 GMT

When you play music, it sounds like angels crying. Brian is spelled with an I! When I dream, you float across my consciousness* like the soft whisp of smoke rising from an apple pie cooling on the window sill. Keep up the good work.

*Ahh, an asterisk follower! I admire your perseverence.

Elan   November 28th, 2009 845 GMT

What does retirement look like for you? Do you have any political aspirations, perhaps Vancouver/North Vancouver City Council?

kris   November 28th, 2009 847 GMT

Bryan,
Your compositions is something outstanding. I’d like to know what you think about Canadian presence in Afghanistan?
Thanks

Ken   November 28th, 2009 906 GMT

Hi Bryan,
You're my favorite musician ever. Sarah McLachlan is my girlfriend's favorite. So here's my question...would you and Sarah sing "Don't Let Go" at my wedding in December 2010? :)

Ester   November 28th, 2009 914 GMT

Hi Bryan
I love your music and I want to hear more from you. Any chance you will go on world tour so that we can once again see you on stage?

Mark   November 28th, 2009 930 GMT

Being from Richmond, BC, I'm curious to know what high school you attended and what/who were your major influences/inspirations in life when you were young (school age).

Thanks bro and all the best, Summer of '69 remains one of my all-time fav's and love hearing it when it comes up on my ipod when I'm jogging on the streets of Tokyo and remembering the glory days back home.

Corey   November 28th, 2009 941 GMT

Apart from the advent of the internet, what do you think has been the most interesting change in the music industry since your start back in the 80s and how has it affected your career?

Edward   November 28th, 2009 953 GMT

I have 'Summer of 69' on my ipod. But every time the song starts I get startled by the first note – a loud bang, caused by a strike up a snaredrum.

Was this intended to startle people?

Diana I.   November 28th, 2009 1004 GMT

First of all, thank you, Bryan, for your work and you commitment to what you do to others!
As we all know some of the very talented artists of our planet that no doubt made a valuable contribution, some of them though out their lives, to not only national but international culture, pasted away in last few years. My question to you, Bryan, as an incedible talened performer, as a true giver, as a humanitarian and, of course, as a human being, is – isn't a time to rase an awarnes of havy seducing prescription drugs and narcotics use? Isn't a time to rase goverment attention to this problem? May be IT IS a time to start educate our children – our next generations, about drugs and narcotics, through other's experiance, in many cases lethal, not only in USA but world wide, to show them what damages it can cause to consumers themselves and their close frends and family?
Thank you for your attention, Diana, Minsk.

Jason Q in Japan   November 28th, 2009 1016 GMT

SImple question – Why Bryan and not Brian?

Aby   November 28th, 2009 1022 GMT

I've been a fan of your music since I was a kid.
I would like to know how you balance the life of being a super rock star, photographer and philanthropist and what the younger generation needs to really do (in terms of music, photography etc) to change and make a difference to this world.

Antonio   November 28th, 2009 1040 GMT

I love your sons/musics. Do you think to make a show in Brazil?

Martin   November 28th, 2009 1117 GMT

How did it feel to perform on-stage with Elton John at MSG back in 2000? I'm a huge Elton fan and have watched that show on DVD a thousand times, and I've always wondered what it must feel like to be perform on-stage with Elton.

Andreas   November 28th, 2009 1138 GMT

Bryan, first of all, thank you for a lot of amazing songs. Like many others, I grew up with it and it has definitely affected me as I became a music artist in my teens. My question: Would you be open to the idea of making another co-operation track within the realms of Electronic Dance Music, like "Don't give it up"? And if I, as a music producer, would want to suggest a song for such co-op, who should I contact?

iguane   November 28th, 2009 1149 GMT

hi CNN, hi sir,
it's the second time since your 11 DVD that you direct a video yourself!
and the first time for a soundtrack song! was it a lot of work to be in front and behind the camera all at the same time? why did you choose to play all the character in that vid? was it coz you don't play with your band lately? as they are your friends tho you wud put them on it, it wud have go well with the song subject!

another important question for me: did you use the "real" band gear for the video?? or did you just rent a drum kit that shine like mickey's one and a bass that looks exactly like norm's one?? i'm wondering if that's blackie you are using as she's not on tour with keith, you might have borrowed her from him! that one also seems kinda use!! no??

thanks for your answer if it only reach you!
keep up the good work igz

Clara   November 28th, 2009 1301 GMT

Hi Bryan,
I really love your music, so far, musician, photographer, philanthropist, everything we can imagine and now...director too?I'm talking about your last work, "You've been a friend to me", the song is really catchy and the video is so funny! Are you imitating the band? How many instruments do you play in the song?Have you thought in directing more future videos?
Love from spain

Greetings from Bulgaria, Bryan!

You have my deepest respect and admiration for all you've done and still do!

Since I am currently in sort of a "what if" phase, I'd like to ask what is one thing, if any, you'd like to change if given a chance to start all over? Best wishes!

Monira   November 28th, 2009 1806 GMT

Hey Bryan, loved seeing you perform in Dubai not once, but twice!
My question is, if you had a chance to only sing one song for the last time, which one would you sing and why?

Solomon   November 28th, 2009 1807 GMT

Hi Bryan,

You have done so much to the entertainment world particularly with your music and singing. Can music help in building peace among nations?

Kunjan   November 28th, 2009 1846 GMT

Bryan, not only your voice but the lyrics you choose for your songs are phenomenol. I am always your fan from decades now.

Jim Neumann   November 28th, 2009 1850 GMT

Bryan,

I think I've been a fan of your music since I first heard it–it has been for years, and continues to be, some of my favorite music to listen to on a regular basis. I didn't know until recently that you're also quite a photography, and that you're very involved in charity work. My question is simply what drives you? Where does the motivation/drive to do all that you do come from?

Mitesh Vashee   November 28th, 2009 1907 GMT

Met you once before your show at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, TX. Somehow you've managed to remain as down to earth and sincere as any rock start could be. What's the secret?

Mayur Patel   November 28th, 2009 1927 GMT

Bryan,
I have always loved your work and practice several of your songs on the Piano as well.
I find it amazing how you have been able to bounce around different liberal arts categories; music & photography. How do you manage to balance the different genre's of art and still manage to produce top quality products?
What is your source of inspiration?

yasa   November 28th, 2009 2053 GMT

S.England   November 28th, 2009 2055 GMT

Over these past 30 years, the image of yourself you have presented to your listeners and fans is one of consistency: t-shirts, jeans, and a guitar. If there was one thing about yourself that YOU would like to change, what would it be and why?

What solutions can you profer?

Do you feel that there is more than just coincedence involved with the movie Robin Hood -Prince of Thieves. By this, I mean it was not just a peak of Kevin Costner's career but yours as well. He went onto do Waterworld and you went onto.... a Spice Girl. Curious to know your insights.

Loren   November 28th, 2009 2358 GMT

I've enjoyed your music of the years and I admire your career. Rock on.

Cheers from Sweden

Ivan   November 29th, 2009 129 GMT

Hi Bryan,

I like the theme of music that you espouse in "Eighteen 'Till I Die". What is your all-time favorite song in your numerous musical contributions?

Katie   November 29th, 2009 226 GMT

I think it is wonderful to see stars give back to the community. You are a very talented musician, and I am happy to have had the opportunity to see you play live. I accepted a teaching position in Alaska last year, and I can actually see Russia from my house. Many of the students are fans of yours. They are learning how to play some of your songs on the guitar. What are you favorite Bryan Adams tunes?

Gavin   November 29th, 2009 244 GMT

You have some inspirational melodies and lyrics. What has been your single biggest influence in your work and music?

Jim   November 29th, 2009 437 GMT

Bryan, You've topped the charts and not long ago churned out hit after hit – an amazing success that very few can claim. What do you think was the key to that success? Are you still focused selling as many records as possible, or are you interested now in pursuing other goals through your music?

Sandra   November 29th, 2009 455 GMT

I grew up listening to your songs back home in Lebanon... Now that I live in the US, are you planning a tour soon? and if yes, is Tampa going to be on the list?
Thank you,

Jens   November 29th, 2009 806 GMT

Bryan,
you did a great job by directing your video for the new song " you' ve been a friend to me" for the new Disney movie "Old Dogs". Are there any real characters who inspired you to use as the 'fake band' members?

It was great as everyone got a chance to see you up close. Do you still do that today? Your concert was truly electrifying and amazing. Thank you for your music!

BA..

You have been involved in so many wonderful causes...including the Susan Koman breast cancer foundation, Hear the World, Greenpeace, awareness and advocacy for saving the whales from the Japenese whaling fleet and of course, the many projects that have been undertaken by the Bryan Adams Foundation. Of all these which is closest to your heart and are you most proud....and if it is the latter, can you name a specific project that has been most meaningful for you. Oh one more thing. Thank you for all you do, you have truly made strides to connect and change the world. x.o SS

Srini   November 29th, 2009 1122 GMT

it believe its hard to put that genuine feelings in the voice (love, pain, cause..emotions) without indulging yourself into those. What is that you do to put yourself into your music? You gotta feel it before you make others believe the emotions in your songs right?

Its a total different world listerning to your songs!! well its a NEW WORLD!!

Muhammad   November 29th, 2009 1128 GMT

Bryan,

You are best singer in the world. We love your songs in Syria.
Do you have any plans to come to this part of the world so your audience can enjoy your music???

Anete   November 29th, 2009 1132 GMT

Hello Bryan!
First of all I want to thank you for the great, genuine, inspirational music you have given to the world! My questian and also a big wish – are there any tours to Europe planned in near future, because we would LOVE to see and hear you here in Latvia!!!! :)

Best wishes from Latvia!

Helga Viana   November 29th, 2009 1209 GMT

Hi Bryan!
I'm a Portuguese fan from Porto..
Because you have touched so many souls in your lifetime as a musician, I would like to know what gives you most inspiration to write your songs and where was the best concert/gig you've ever given, in your sincere opinion?
Keep doing what you love doing! You're simply the best!

iguane   November 29th, 2009 1338 GMT

you are involved in the " hear the world" campaign! you shooted many artist for this cause, with which artist, wellknown person, did you have the best time during the shooting sessions? are you involved in the choice of the peoples you're gonna shoot for that campaign?

another question: since the early years of the walkman and portatif devices, do you think the industry make any effort to protect young ears?? for my part i think that the earphones makers make them a lot better than it was and you can play the music as loud as you want directly in your ears! not good for what you're fighting for indeed! how do you think that campaign reach the young generations???

thank you! igz

Daniela from Malta   November 29th, 2009 1431 GMT

Thank you for your music Bryan and for everything you've done and are doing so far to better the lives of many – it is very much appreciated.

I would like to know the most valueed moment in your life...when have you felt like it was all worthwhile?

Mariska   November 29th, 2009 1834 GMT

Hi Bryan,
Your concert on November 13th in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) was the best concert I ever attended. I have been going to your concerts for 15 years so I have seen you quite often.
I also was fortunate enough to have a VIP ticket and to meet you. You are very down to earth but I did not expect anything else of you. So my question: how do you handle contact with your fans? You walked in the room and everybody just stared at you. Do you get used to the stares and nudges and whispers when you enter a room or walk down a street?
Hope to see you soon in the Netherlands and enjoy the rest of the Bare Bones tour.
Warm regards,
Mariska

Kelly   November 29th, 2009 2052 GMT

A lot of people create a "bucket list" – a list of things to do before they die.

What are five of the things on your bucket list?

Yuri   November 29th, 2009 2137 GMT

Bryan, I've been a long time fan of yours. Lately I got the impression, that you're exhausted as a musician and hits like 'Please Forgive Me' or 'Everything I Do' are all history now. Your latest album '11' wasn't very fresh and you seem to be more into photography.

You are enjoying your status of celebrity, still remaining a down to earth person.
But frankly, what are your plans about music? Are you planning any further albums? Why guys like Keith Urban or John Mayer are extremely popular in the States and you're not (anymore). I know this comment is a bit provocative but I hope to hear your thoughts on this.

Sam   November 29th, 2009 2233 GMT

Hi Bryan
- is there another direction/kind of music that you would like to try, and if so, which one?
- has your adolescence and the fact that you werent always rich influenced the way you handle your career/fame?

Elisa   November 29th, 2009 2349 GMT

Hi BAdams, Throughout your career, you have used your star power to bring attention to many important issues. What do you think is the most crucial global issue the world faces today? The environment, the financial crisis, the Middle East conflict, the war on terrorism or something else? Any thoughts on how you or your foundation could begin to heal any of these issues, even on a smaller scale?
Thanks, I'm proud to call myself a fan.

Laura Matera   November 30th, 2009 347 GMT

Laura Matera   November 30th, 2009 354 GMT

Hi Bryan,

You are a man with many talents and recently showed us another new talent of directing a video! Congratulations, the video is fantastic!

Would you ever consider directing another video in the future?

It was a pleasure to finally meet you in April of this year after trying for over 20 years! It was something I will never forget!

Thank you for all of your fantastic music, photography and all the wonderful work you do with your foundation!

It was really a big luck to be able to meet you in Vienna! Your concert was grandiose and my friends and me enjoyed every moment!
But not only your awesome music, also your big engagement for example cancer or poor children is to take one´s hat off you!
Stay as you are – we all love you!

Hey Bryan,

Your photography is great! I especially liked the photos you took of Pink.....which got me to thinking. Her voice, in my opinion, is the female version of yours. She has the "raspy" sound too.

Would you ever do a song with her? I would love to hear the two of you together!! That would be great! Something raunchy like "The only thing that looks good on me is you". What do you say??!

mf_ika Fransiska   November 30th, 2009 1127 GMT

Hello Bryan,

I've been a fan since almost 20 years and my first concert I attended was over 18 years ago in Jakarta, my native city. Been living in Germany for 11 years now n luckily able gigging around in Europe. My question is, would you consider any tour in South East Asia incl, Jakarta or 'pore in the near future? Some fans in Aussie n NZ have ben waiting for you as well ;)

Anyway, my bf who has become a fan as well n I are impressed with your self-directed n played Vid 'You've been a friend to me'. Its just simply brilliant. We love the song as well as all the character played there. Like some other fans already asked, we are interested your original ideas on it.

Cu around, Bry!

Its been all time coming, now 27, been fan since 12. Dad always play rocks like smookies, Bon Jovi and most time Bryan. Till now stil love that song. On a day like today. Am aspiring to be a fusion of slow rock and R&B something like high modern classics nd slow rock. Like strings and guiters. Am your fan and protogee.

Vivienne (Vivi)   November 30th, 2009 1255 GMT

Dear Bryan,

During your 30 years career in the music business and since appr. 10 years as a photographer, I assume ALL possible questions have been asked already .... about your career, business, music, private life (as far as you let people ask personal/private questions ;o) etc.

As I certainly don't want to repeat a question for the ... time or ask a silly question, I would like to turn the question around and ask YOU if there is a question (you are willing to answer) which by your knowledge has NEVER been ask to you before?

Take care and bye bye,

Vivi.

...JUDY...   November 30th, 2009 1504 GMT

Dear Bryan,

Are you still open for marriage if the right woman has the correct or

should I say "CONNECT" chemistry with you?

...JUDY...Judy Ann...jawz   November 30th, 2009 1515 GMT

Hey Guy,

After you create a new song (lyrics, melody and rhythm) like recently

with "You've Been A Friend to Me" and "No Time For Love", what do you

do next? Is the first thing to copyright it? At what point do you copyright

them? Are all songs you create copyrighted by you, even the ones you

make for a movie or for someone else or that you give away?...LOL...(

remember "STUPID ME" you said that.) And when you write a song, is

it always yours? Would appreciate an answer to this. THANKS

jawz

...Judy Ann...   November 30th, 2009 1523 GMT

Hello Mr. Adams,

Are those your own BLUE eyes? I know they are your own eyes...LOL...

but why do they look brown in some pictures and so blue in others?

(I know you will kill me if they pick this question)...LOL...:-)...Judy Ann...

...Judy Ann...   November 30th, 2009 1535 GMT

I hope your new song "No Time For Love" is not in any way some kind

of biography of how you feel. If there is no time for love, you have to

"make time for love".XXX

Larry Agboh, Abuja, Nigeria   November 30th, 2009 1543 GMT

I appreciate what you are doing to improve the lives of the less previleged Children through EDUCATION. How can I get in touch with your Foundation ?

...Judy Ann...   November 30th, 2009 1547 GMT

Hi Bryan,

In your new video "You've Been A Friend To Me" which you directed

yourself, some feel that you are mimicking your band members. Is

this correct? ...ME...

...Judy Ann...   November 30th, 2009 1554 GMT

Bryan,

Do you copyright all songs written by you, whether you use them, sell

them or give them away? Is this the first thing that should be done after

finishing a song?...Thanks,,,jawz

Pascal   November 30th, 2009 1609 GMT

Hello Bryan,
We loved your shows in Antwerp and Rotterdam!
We have visited many of your concerts and we hope that you will see
you again in 2010...2011...2012.....
Will you perform at "Night of the proms" next year?
Your voice combined with a symphonic orchestra would be the highlight of those concerts!!
Regards,
Pascal

Laura Matera   November 30th, 2009 1614 GMT

Do you enjoy reading? What books have you read lately?

Laura Matera   November 30th, 2009 1620 GMT

Will you be coming back to Connecticut next year?

Obviously you don't remember me (I was the woman in pink) but I met you in April after waiting over 20 years to meet you and would love to see you again for 'Meeting #2'! I just can't wait another 20 years for another M&G with you!

I"m only a year and a half younger than you, single, available and love your music, do photography as a hobby and think we would be great together! What do you think? Interested? LOL!

Hi Bryan,
you write so many hits, became a very good photgrapher, recently, a director and go on tour every mounth...where do you find your motivation to go on? Is it because you still feel like you are 18 years old?

Dear Bryan,

I saw you in January during your acoustic gig in Clearwater, Florida

and you seemed to have a great sense of humor. Were you ever the

class clown in school?...Judy Ann...

Diana   November 30th, 2009 1843 GMT

Hi Bryan,

Where and how do you see yourself in about lets say 10 – 15 years from now?? Are you ever think about retire/pension?

And what do you feel are the pro's and cons of acoustic gigs versus full band gigs?? Or arent there any for you?

greetings from the Netherlands

Bryan, it's been a long time since managed to bring out a new hit record. You best songs were released in the 80s and in the 90s. In 00's you brought 2 new albums which weren't popular in the U.S. You have no record deal in the states, selling your albums via Wal Mart. I don't understand that knowing you have all the premises and all the talent to write new songs – soul touching ballads... I miss them a lot. Some of the songs writter for the Stallion Soundtrack were like that. But with room service you changed your direction completely. Many fans like myself are wondering, why?

If you had the power to make one wish and for it to be granted ...what would it be?

Keep rocking!!

Saw your great photograph of Sting on the cover of Zoomer Magazine.

When did you discover your talent for photography? Are there any galleries in Europe where people can see your photos?

Have always loved your music. Sorry to have missed your concert in Luzern.

Kind regards from snowy Switzerland

Oros Edit   November 30th, 2009 2046 GMT

Bryan, been a fan since the early '90s....

Please release a live DVD of the acoustic tours, so those of us whom haven't had the pleasure watching you play those acoustic shows, can finally see you. Looking forward to those "behind the songs" stories...

Btw, how come you never play the piano live? It'd be cool to see you sitting down and play. I know you used to write some stuff on the piano.

Thanks,

Visit Indonesia, please

:p

Dhiraj sharma   December 1st, 2009 318 GMT

Hi from New Delhi

thanks for the great music, simple lyrics and amazing photography!
QUESTION 1: do you think world music has changed especially over the last 10 years. we don’t get to listen to the good rock stuff that we used to get in 80's.

if so ! what need to be done to improve that?

QUESTION 2 : did you ever take guitar lessons or photography lessons?

Kaitlin   December 18th, 2009 426 GMT
