As the chairman and chief executive of MTV Networks International, Bill Roedy oversaw the global expansion of one what has become one of the most popular and diverse TV channels in the world.

In his 22 years at MTV, he rolled out hundreds of channels across the globe.

He launched MTV Europe, started local versions of MTV in the Middle East – which air the call to prayer five times a day – and brought shows like “Beavis and Butthead” to Russia and “Jersey Shore” to Italy.

He says, “We were local before local was cool.”

Roedy left MTV in January to focus on his charity work. He’s now an envoy for the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, trying to raise awareness about the importance of vaccines in fighting childhood diseases.
