Qatar 2022 Bribery Claims Threaten to Derail Winning Bid

Qatar's successful World Cup bid was supposed to cement the Gulf emirate's position on the global stage. But the aftermath of its selection has been plagued by concerns over human rights, heat, seasonal changes, broken promises and – most recently – alleged corruption. The chairman of Fifa's Independent Governance Committee Mark Pieth tells Becky Anderson why he wants a rerun of the 2022 World Cup vote.
