Margaret Atwood is one of the most celebrated authors of fiction - having won the Booker Prize once, the Governor Genera's Award twice as well as the Arthur C. Clarke Award and Prince of Asturias award for Literature.

Some of her most well known books include "The Handmaid's Tale", "Alias Grace" and "The Blind Assassin".

She has also produced a number of highly acclaimed poetry collections and non-fiction books.

The Canadian is also well known for her work as a social activist and as an environmentalist.

She has called on leaf blowers and lawn mowers to be banned because of their environmental repercussions and will be a surprise visitor to the World Economic Summit in Davos.

Thursday's Connector of the Day: Ian McKellen

Sir Ian McKellen's career has spanned playing characters as diverse as Shakespeare's "Hamlet" to comic book villain, Magneto in "X-Men".

The English-born actor's portfolio includes both stage and screen - he was given a Tony award and two Academy Award nominations.

McKellen is also an openly gay actor and has been a strident activist for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender rights.

He is currently performing in London in the stage production of "Waiting for Godot" until April 2010.

Will the Apple tablet change the world?

The anticipation before the worldwide release of Apple's highly hyped tablet product has been huge.

There has been enormous speculation over what the product will look like, how much it will cost, what technical specifications it will have... the list goes on and on.

As the official launch from San Francisco nears, we want to know what you think.
