Monday's Connector: Corinne Bailey Rae
English singer-songwriter, Corinne Bailey Rae, is a relative newcomer to the music world, but in only a few years she has already made a big impact.

Her debut album, "Corinne Bailey Rae" was released in February 2006 to worldwide acclaim and she came away with a number of important music awards.
Rae is currently out with a new album called "The Sea" which she says helped her through the tragedy of losing her husband in 2008.
The singer was married to fellow musician, Jason Rae from 2001 until he died of an accidental drug overdose. Even though it was a difficult time for Rae, she is quoted as saying the process of recording her new album helped her through the tragedy.
Rae is also involved with an international gathering of young minds called "One Young World" which is aimed at helping solve the world's problems.
The organizers of "One Young World" have invited Rae to perform two songs for the speakers and delegates as the finale to the opening ceremony.

I d like to ask to Corinne Bailey Rae what was the most interesting country that she visited and why?
What inspires you to write such powerful and multidimensional songs and is it a conscious decision in that process to write songs that are flexible in meaning and possess a value that transcends seasonality .
Cases in point 'Venus as a boy' and 'Are you here' to name a few.
And just to add, it's been a privilege to listen to your music, it's been uplifting and refreshing. It's one of my life's dreams to meet you and share my experiences with you. Your biggest fan.
Corinne: I've listened to your songs thousands of times. They are a part of my life. Question: Do you sing and play music every day or do you take days off and hang around? And what do you like to do most besides making music?

What influence, if any at all, has being from Leeds and studying at the U of L had on you as a person, and on your musical style? Howdy Corinne, understanding you and your musical career, I believe without doubts that THE SEA would make waves.
I loved another rainy day on your first album which was a refreshing album very light and clear yet full of feeling and depth. Not dark like so much of teh music out right now.
You are referred to as a pop artist, do you see maybe a jazz album in your future?
I would love to see you in concert and have no clue when you are performing next. I really enjoy your sound and as a West Indian, I admire how you have made it in the Industry.
My music taste and collection consists mainly of Jay-Z, DMX, Eminem, Canibus, KRS-One, just to name a few...but the very first time I heard Just Like Star, I was stunned by your voice, clarity and melody. When you're writing and making a song, what do you strive to achieve?
My question to Corinne is this: You've been through some hard times recently, and you've come out a stronger and more beautiful woman (I admire you for that). I'm going through a difficult time right now. I'd like to know what keeps you going and what advice do you have for young woman like me?

As I'm sure you are aware, Music has the ability to heal, change the course of history, and create joy. You have participated in 6664 and now The One Young World movement. How did it feel to first discover that your voice can be a tool for social change and what are your plans to develop this aspect of your gift in the future?
