Wednesday's Connector: Donald Trump

Donald Trump is one of the world's most well known real-estate tycoons and television personalities.

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/08/donald.trump.blog.jpg caption ="Donald Trump."]

His confident and sometimes brash attitude has made him both a friend or foe to many in the business and celebrity world.

During the late 1960s, Trump took over his father's real estate development company in New York City and he soon began investing heavily in large scale building projects in Manhattan.

His name soon became synonymous with luxury buildings including Trump Tower, Trump Plaza and Trump World Tower.

He also expanded the Trump Organization to include a number of casinos, golf courses and marinas.

In 2003, Trump moved from the construction site to the television set.

He was the executive producer and host of the hit television show, "The Apprentice", which pitted budding businessmen and women against each other in the hopes of getting a job with Trump.

The show went on to be a worldwide hit and in 2004, Trump trademarked his catch phrase "You're Fired!".

In the same year Trump's pay for the show skyrocketed to a reported $3 million per episode - making him one of the highest earning television stars in the world .

Trump, whose Miss Universe pageant is frequently criticized for being a sexist throwback, stirred further controversy in 2006 with an on-air verbal tirade against television personality Rosie O'Donnell.

The real-estate magnate is currently building what he is calling the "world's greatest golf course" near Aberdeen, Scotland after overcoming resistance from local environmentalists.

Here's your chance to ask Donald Trump your questions.

What was it like being on "The Apprentice"? Maybe you want to know how his wife Melania is? Are there any new building projects on the horizon? What does he think of President Obama?

    Good Morning Mr. Trump,
I have two questions: 1) Has the president ever ask you for advice on how to get the economy moving? 2) Do you foresee the economy getting better in the latter part of the year? Thank you for your time.

    Hello Mr Trump

Assuming that you did not have a kickstart into real estate, do you think you could have become a billionaire? If so, how long do you think it would have taken you ? Finally. What would be the single most important trait youd'e need to achieve that goal ?

    Thanx

    Hi Donald
Love the Apprentice – I just wanted to know what the latest is on your feud with Rosie O'Donnell. What do you think of her today and is there a kiss and make up on the horizon?

There is really nothing wrong with just being a bald guy.
Look at Daddy Warbucks. Filthy Rich and he just went with what nature gave him.

So, please... Can we just do something about the haircut?

You are an inspiration to all and have attained an image that many aspire to hold... most of all your critics.

The question: Of all your charitable works, what has you most excited?

See you on the golf course!

    Hello Mr Trump,

The question, do you have plans on expanding your brand name to South East Asia?

I love the Apprentice, and I really look forward to work in one of your organisations. Yes, I may be in a third world country, but that doesn't stop me from reaching out, especially when the world today is so much "smaller" with the power of the internet. Any chance at all? Maybe an "International Apprentice" whereby you gather the best few from a continent and have them go through the toughest interview in the world!

    God bless!

At what point did you get rich enough where your group of close business associates, personal friends, and hot young model girlfriends stopped commenting on your hair?

    OR

Why is your committment to your haircut stronger than the committments you've made in any of your marriages? Do you view your hair as similar to Jennifer Gray's nose, empirically bad but a signature which (if revised) would cause you to lose some of your cachet? Are you a Samson-like character whose strength is in your locks?

I keed Mr. Trump. I admire you very much for your ability to acquire wealth and beautiful arm candy. Best wishes.

Which part of a real estate project do you enjoy best: Is it technical details of the design process, or the neverending legal battle and coming up with the financing, or visiting a construction site?

    Thanks.

    Hello Mr. Trump,

Corporate million/billionaires have been villified after their role was exposed in the recent worldwide economic crisis which has caused a major rise in unemployment and has directly contributed to an astronomic federal deficit. My questions are all related to this phenomonen.
    1. What have you personally done to change the villainous image of people of your professional, socio-economic class?
    2. Do you believe that you could be happy having an identical professional life but living a comfortable, middle-class (or even above average) socio-economic personal life?
    3. How do you envision the financial future of the US? (Even if your area of expertise may not be macro-economics, your thoughts would still be respected on the matter.)

    Mr. Trump

Do you ever feel guilty about the fact that when you declared bankruptcy, you allegedly ruined the lives of different small business owners? I'm curious because, after you declared bankruptcy there were stories circulating about you paying the mortgage off for a couple who stopped when your limo broke down (ahem, cough...who wouldn't?). This mortgage you paid was probably much more than the amount it took to ruin at least one person's business that I know of when you declared bankruptcy. I wonder if you'll ever understand that the reputation of your name carries with it great responsibility, and the people you come in contact with expect a certain level of trust to be honoured. I do not know you personally, and I understand that many times the real story gets lost, but I have wondered for a very long time about this. I don't expect my question to be chosen, but I am truly interested in your response.

Mr Trump, two questions for you,
#1 If you were not the real-estate tycoon you are today or had the education and gained the experience you have, what do you conceive you would be in the ways of employment ? flipping burgers, a plumber, a taxi driver in New York or perhaps run a hot dog stand ?
#2 The type of employment you select, could you honestly do that job for a day or even a week ? and turn a better profit in the time you did it (could make for some very interesting TV entertainment and lead to a whole new series) Would it be to big of a challenge ?
    cheers,

    Hi Donald,
Here's my 2 bits. Just curious, do you find that having a decisive personality, or one that appears decisive because Lord only knows how hard it is to make the type of decisions you make risking billions of dollars of your and other investors moneys, is something required for entreprenurial success at all levels? What I like the most about what I have read about you and seen in The Apprentice, is your ability to make bold decisions, I'm not sure how many people have the guts or are insane enough, to lounge forward with decisiveness unto the darkness and hope for the best.

Mr. Trump - Admire you and your accomplishments greatly and love The Apprentice.

Given the fact that building your empire required close relationships with banks and that you repaid all your loans when times got tough, how would you have dealt with the near collapse of banking and investment houses, the federal infusion of funds into them, their repayment of those loans, and the BIG bonuses doled out this past Christmas? Also, what sort of changes or regulations would you implement to protect stable private banking funds from the more risky investment industry?

Excuse myself of setting aside introductory hypocrite blah-blah of how are you greetings. I just wanted you to know that 10,000 USD from you would make my family live decently. This amount will be enough stimuli of the impact the world recession affected my once peaceful life. I am asking you not of mercy but of a tool to emerge. There is no bancruptcy law here in UAE and banks keeps me harrased. I would return not to you the favor but to the charity.

HOW to connect people/charities trashing usable household items, furniture etc to those who need, i.e., like after Hurricane Katrina.

Crazy (danger to earth & people) for usable & recyclable often VALUABLE/HISTORICAL items to waste landfill space. RIGHT?

Even charities trash books, antiques etc. if nowhere to store. Prisons could be recycle centers to build sense of community

We ONLY have 1 earth: Come on Everybody. Shape UR carbon footprint up. Put UR trash can on a diet. Come on NOW just try it

    1) I remember hearing your father was a construction contractor.
Were you able to have some experiences in construction as a youth?
Jimmy Carter works building houses sometimes. Would you ever work on a Habitat for Humanity House?

    2) There's a perception in the news sometimes that you specialize in the casino business, which seems to be a symptom of a national economy that has nothing better to do. Yet a business person wants to invest in what will be profitable. If you had a billion dollars all your own to spend for new construction for the good of the nation or world, for what industry would you choose to invest in buildings?

    3) What about the case of the American girl in an Italian prison, Amanda Knox? There is an updated wikipedia article about the case. You have announced at least a partial boycott of Italian imports until she is released. Do you still maintain this position? What do some of your friends say to you about that?

    4) Could you, as a good businessman, ever achieve consensus among your business partners that a business might be a great investment even if it gradually loses money for a long time, but is a really great lifestyle choice or life commitment for the partners?

    Thanks for considering these questions

    3) What about the case of the American girl in an Italian prison, Amanda Knox? There is an updated wikipedia article about the case. You have announced at least a partial boycott of Italian imports until she is released. Do you still maintain this position? What do some of your friends say to you about that?

    4) Could you, as a good businessman, ever achieve consensus among your business partners that a business might be a great investment even if it gradually loses money for a long time, but is a really great lifestyle choice or life commitment for the partners?

    5) If you had a billion dollars all your own to spend for new construction for the good of the nation or world, for what industry would you choose to invest in buildings?

    6) What do you think of "eco-building" - where property & construction professionals strive to create more ecologically-sustainable buildings in our future?

    Thanks for considering these questions

    Question for Mr. Trump:
As a high profile corporate leader and former presidential candidate, I was wondering if you think the Obama administration's shift in focus for NASA — canceling heavy-lifter booster and moon programs and mandating private industry contributions — will help or hinder the future of space exploration and if it has any national security implications.

    Dear; Mr Donald Trump,
I STRONGLY BELIEVE YOU HAVE ALL IT TAKE TO SOLVE THE WORLD.
lET LOOK ON BIRTH CONTROL AS THE BEST MEASURE TO RECOVER THE WHOLE WORLD WITHOUT PREJUDE
To my view ,to solve global crisis we have to focus more on core of these epidamics i.e universal birth control.
    QUESTIONS
Could Zero population growth rate be used to recover the economic depression in addation to what the global have done during reccission as a lasting solution?
Would it be wise to pump some coins toward global birth control advocacy as is to other crises like HIVAIDS,CLIMATE CHANGE,ECONOMIC RECOVERY and others?

    Dear Mr.Trump,

What is your opinion on the Property Tax system in the US. Do you believe that this decentralzed uncontrolled taxation system is a burden to small businesses because it can't be otherwise administered as overhead cost. I am trying to start a new business but the crazy PT in NY prohibits this start which costs the community 10 jobs.

Mr. Trump: Can you put in a good word to some one in Washington DC
that the Bank Depositors are the ones getting screwed. They're using
our money & paying us almost zero....then loaning it out for 5% or more.
Then those profits going to the "fat cats" on Wall Street. If the depositors
had more interest income, they would have more to spend....thus
creating more jobs! In all my 85 years this is the lowest interest I have
seen. It just doesn't seem fair. Please help us. Thank you!

    Hi Mr Trump.

1st of all I have to pay you a compliment, you are truly a champion and I'm I have to confess, Thanks to guys like you who teach self development, my son Franklin and me recovered from a terrible accident we had in June last year down under. To save some money we were fixing my automobile which suddenly caught fire. I was burnt up to 40% and my son up to 90%. My wife Jenny was strong enough during the ordeal and kept a positive attitude while me and my son were in an induced coma which lasted up to a month. Beginning to understand the unconscious mind which apparently is always awake, she kept talking positive quotes from your books so thanks to personal development we all recovered and now we feel fannntastic.

During the accident and after the accident the media here in Perth, Australia. was trying to sell the news... my wife did not give them anything.... she waited until I was in good health to ask for my opinion... she though the media is already full of bad news and our story was going to be edited anyway to look more bad than what it really was.

I have played with the idea of writing a book but have not idea how to do it, let alone how to market it... You probably have realized that English is my second language

    My question is.....

    advice..

How would you turn this tragedy in to an advantage?

Many thanks and hope good fortune is always in your favor.

    Greetings Mr. Trump,

My name is J. Eric Booker. I am the published author of 2 books (both listed on Amazon.com), and am writing the 3rd story of an Epic Fantasy Trilogy. The first book in this trilogy is called "THE SWORDS OF THE SULTAN!" The synopsis and the first 3 chapters have I posted in my blogs on: http://www.myspace.com/crazyecrew

I would really like to talk to you more–in person or over the phone–about "my special project," which I genuinely believe can generate us billions of dollars, especially if you were to consider the books, movies, t-shirts, lunch boxes, toys, video games, etc, that will–1 day–be made. Heck, this project can not only give many jobs to many unemployed Americans, yet help turn our whole economy around!

As you are an entrepreneur, like myself, I feel that someone like you will be "definitely interested." I promise that your most-valuable time won't be wasted...

    Thank you very much,
    J. Eric Booker

P.S. I am also a musician/stage performer with dozens of songs to my name...a multi-talented artist. Many songs can also be found on my MySpace page, of which I have over 17,000 fans from all over the world. No joke....

Dear Mr. Trump.......... I have a suggestion for you,

That you could put through the wires a little faster then the rest of us. They want to stimulate the economy. Give ever working American 20 Grand. So they pay their credit cards, and foreclosures. Then they would not be all this negative money. I heard A statement From Bill Maher. That 120 Billion dollars last year was charged to people, in fees and Interest. That was only for credit cards. The problem point blank is, that the inflation rate of the dollar, is way past the minimum income. I will tell you what, every where you go, not one company wants to pay more then 8-10 dollars an hour. No Single person can live on that. There is no way. Cause the Price of Every thing is 3 times higher then it was 10 to 15 years ago. But the salary only went up 28% that’s a big gap, 28% – 300% or even being modest at best 200% that is why the country is falling apart. Those figures need to meet each other, to enable people to live a decant life. And yes then they will spend more money, creating more jobs.
