Monday's Connector: Nigella Lawson

April 16th, 2010
03:55 PM ET

Known by many as the "Queen of food porn", Nigella Lawson hardly needs a surname to be recognized.

The journalist turned television cook is regarded as this generation's domestic goddess.

With her strong yet feminine style, she is lauded as both an object of male adulation and a female ideal.

Although many refer to her as a celebrity chef, Lawson has never been professionally trained - but that hasn't stopped her brand from exploding

In addition to seven cook books, Lawson has hosted a series of television shows that explore everything from Christmas dinners to comfort foods that make you happy.

And this week, Lawson has just come out with her very own Ipod application that gives users the chance to use a huge range of the chef's recipes.

Please leave your comments for Nigella Lawson below.

    Hello all,

My questions are: what is your favorite type of food to cook? And what is your favorite food to indulge in (calories don't matter)??

    Have a great day!!!

Hi Nigella! I just wanted to ask when are you the happiest? Is it in the kitchen or when you have all the family at home – or maybe on days when all your favourite things are well stocked in the pantry and you can make a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g you are hungry for? 🙂 No wait, that's MY idea of happy! lol Hugs to you.

    Hello Nigella!

Me and my wife keep wondering do you dash to fridge at night when you're off-camera? You always keep hearing about the dangers of late-night snacking and the hazards it causes on your figure...

Keep up the good gastronomic work,

I absolutely adore your shows and the food you cook with such passion. I do hope the Food Network in America will begin to air your programs more consistently. Can you nudge them to do so??

Looking forward to the app! Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into your industry, food and lifestyle?

There are a few certain things in the world. If you want healthy food, go to the salad and yoghurts and margarine (although there is mounting evidence, that margarine has less health benefits than butter).
Just get the balance....indulge sometimes, eat greens sometimes...
I love NL, she's really inspiring. And yes I know, her food is full of fat and sugar and other goodies, but I dpn't have to eat it evweryday, just when I want to make a nice dinner.
Also, It's an illustration of one of the facts in life- if you want to do something well- you have to have no compromises. I know no healthy eating cuisine superstar....

Thank you for the opportunity to ask Nigella a question.

    – You have gorgeous skin and hair, what are your tips? You always look immaculate when standing over a hot stove but never look as if you spend hours doing yourself up, it's completely natural flawless look.
    – Any suggestions on how to get a meat lover to eat more vegetables, I've tried adding veggies to sauces to disguise them but these are always pushed to the side.
    – Is Omega 3 really as good for you as the publicity suggests? I havent been able to find any serious research on this.

    Thank you,

Asking you what to eat and what to avoid nowadays, is pretty much useless, everyone by now, should know...
I love to cook (Mediterranean) and I get good marks amongst friends.
But seeing you is truly inspiring, a breath of fresh air, and above all so relaxing (compared with your fellow cooks, out there).
Thank you, and do keep up the good work !!!

Nigella, since university, I've been known for my love of cooking and feeding my friends. Back then, we used to sit and muse: if you were stranded on a desert island and could only take one food with you, what would it be? That presumed we would one day be rescued, so the follow on is: if you knew you had only hours to live, what would your last meal be?
I can't wait to download your i-pod application. Thanks for giving us a great female choice in this male dominated industry!

Hello Nigella, you are a treat to watch, and i love your great sense of humour, and to top it all, you are great chef, i'm sure you could teach, the opinionated, so called qualified chef's, (Gordon Reamsey) a hell of a lot. Certainly in the manners department.

    Howdy, Nigella,

Do you have a favorite "food-memory", i.e. memory that has food in it or is somehow related to food, be it from childhood or any other times from your life? Would you mind sharing that memory, and why is it a good memory for you?

Is there a favorite food destination for you, like a certain city or country?

What's the best part about cooking for you? The worst part?

Thank you for this chance to ask questions. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors, Nigella!

Nigella cooks? I only watch the show to see Nigella. She's a "real" woman, not like any of those emaciated, mutilated, femi-nazi clothes horses that pass for women. If she wasn't married already I would be on one knee in a minute. Oh, I hear she also cooks.

What foods to you do you love from America that you can't get in the UK?
