Any chance of hitting a small venue again? Your show at "The Bitter End" in New York in 2008 proved to some of the music snobs out there that you are still an artist. Sometimes its a good thing to work outside your comfort zone.

    Hi Neil,

When you first started in the music business, you wrote songs for other artists. In November, 1966 on a 10-minute interview radio show called, "The In Sound" with host Harry Harison, he asked you if you write your own songs. You said you did, you even mentioned you wrote for Andy Williams, Sonny & Cher, and Jay & the Americans. Do you remember the titles for Andy Williams & Sonny & Cher? I also found out later you wrote songs for The Bachelors (English group of the 60's), Brook Benton and Wilson Pickett, do you remember the songs titles and what were they.

The reason I'm asking is that we collect cover versions of songs that you wrote by yourself or with others that you never put into your singles and LP's throughout the years.

Thank you very much, and keep on rockin'

I once read that the songs that you write and sing stem from random thoughts that you put together into lyrics and are not born from personal experience, with the possible exception of "I Am, I Said". But then there are songs like "Brooklyn Roads" which seems to be somewhat true to your background, "Hell, Yeah" seems personal, not to mention your beautiful love songs, including my favorite "Play Me", and some others which seem to reflect a strong connection with a Supreme Being.

I believe not everything you write is based on personal experiences but come from your talent, heart and soul, but do a lot of your songs come from personal experiences that you share with the world through poetry and song, the way other people would just sit and talk?

P.S. Forget the R&R Hall of Fame. Let's have the Neil Diamond Museum since there's no one else in your class.

You have a very loyal fan base, and have recognized your fans many times over the years. Many of those fans have, from the first time they heard one of your songs, felt a strong connection with you and felt that someone understood them enough to voice their feelings, or make them think about things they would not normally ponder. With the Internet and the myriad ways of keeping in touch these days, do you feel more connected to your fans now than, say, 15 years ago, and if so, what effect, if any, has that increased connection had on your life and career?

    Dear Neil,

I am a fan of all your music, but as a singer myself, I was wondering why you never released instrumental versions of your original songs for other performers to sing them? The karaoke versions are really not that great and do not have the heart and soul that your original compositions have. HINT: Please consider the live instrumenal version of AMERICA from the finale of THE JAZZ SINGER as an instrumental should you ever release an anniversary version of THE JAZZ SINGER soundtrack.

Hi Neil, Thanks for this opportunity to ask you a question 🙂 I work with children ( that live in a "at risk" environment,) as a one on one
skill builder,Assistant/aid/Teacher. I was wondering what kind of advice could you give to them to be able to live their dream with the way the world is today? I do use you and others who have become successful as positive examples of success, (despite their challenges) to inspire my students to continue to "dream" and look ahead to a future of success. Perhaps you wouldn't mind addressing this question. I would gratefully pass your suggestion on to my very worthy students.
Very sincerely, a fan since the 70's, Pamela of Farmington NY
If you return to the Rochester NY area, with your next tour, I'm sure a personal visit from you and your band, to our school, would inspire the students I work with, to never give up on their dreams, even more.. That would be a dream come true of mine, and possibly of theirs 🙂

Knowing you have millions of fans of all ages, many who would love to meet you in person, would you EVER consider a contest like "people writing why you should spend the day with them" and from everything submitted pick a person to spend the day with in either Brooklyn, or Californian? It was a pleasure seeing you at the Rose Garden in Portland!

Drove by the Troubador last night and thought of you and "Gold"; wondering if you would come back to your "roots" after you get into the RRHF? I use to put on that album (and many of your others) at night and wake up in the morning and it would still be playing on the record player. I have hundreds of your songs "running through my brain" – you'll always be my favorite. Wishing you all the best. Pamela from L.A. First I would like to say, I have not missed a concert of yours since 1985 when you perform in New England..Boston, Worcester, Providence RI...Your energy is contagious. Do you feel as up as you appear at every concert? Does the engegy of the audience carry you through and should the audience not be as into the performance, how does that affect you? I was at Mohegan Sun in Uncus Ct a few years ago and felt that there were more people there that got comped the tickets than were true fans. I often wondered after that how the audience affects you.
Thanks and anxious to hear Dreams!

I have read that you write your music first and then the lyrics, but some of your music is so powerful in the words. They tell a story that the listener remembers and stays with them. (I'm thinking of the classic "Brother Love" but as recent as "Pretty Amazing Grace.)
What inspires you to write your "story songs"? Is it as simple as a phrase or visual that sets the muse into action or is it many things coming together and the music comes from your inner being?
Sometimes, there is so much wrapped up in in one of your song, it takes on many layers to hear everything!
I just LOVE your songs – you are truly God gifted.

Did you know there's also a cancer fundraiser that in parts honors your music? Run4Kelly.com is a memorial fundraiser for Kelly Golat (who passed away from melanoma at 23). Her family (devoted Diamondheads) played nothing but your music at her funeral because Kelly was always up for a party! Today her annual 5k fundraiser draws visitors from across the country, and they still play your music.

Your band presented you with a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle at the end of one of your tours in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I was at that concert and have wondered ever since, did you ride the bike home?
Early in your career you wrote a political song called, "I Am A Man" . I understand you have bittersweet feelings about the song but have you ever thought of rerecording the song?

I've said many times that if it wasn't for your music when my 4 sons were growing up (father left us), I would've either killed myself or put them up for adoption. You kept me level and gave me strength. People ask me what's my favorite Diamond song and I say "the one I'm listening to right now", whichever it might be. They are all magical to me. Your DVD from NYC was such a treat-I felt like I was there. I hope you & yours are feeling better and that you're going to enjoy the holidays and then go out on tour. Very smart to take the lower half of the world where it will be warmer than up here where we will be freezing. I live in Wisconsin, born in Chicago, and wouldn't move back there for nothing. Hey Neil,
Don't you miss those small venues where you could see every person in the audience? These were the good old days, for fans, but was it also for you?
Now, practically everybody is anonymous; only a few are seen. Watching the show on a screen, even a massive one, while you look like an ant, is it worth going to see you in person, or in ant? Well, it ... ain't!
Before you BOW FOR THE LAST TIME, wouldn't you like the chance to relive this time when only 3000 people could fit in the theater?
We have the perfect venue in Richmond BC. A casino that saw Englebert, Sinatra Jr, Paul Anka and other big names (Air Supply also) appear and seem to have a great time with us. Walking in the aisle to meet the people is a regular practice. It is sooooo friendly and cozy.
Every 'star' should try it again once before the curtain comes down for ever.
What made the practice disappear was the constant growth of the band, the technical stuff and THE NEED TO MAKE MORE MONEY. But does that lead to happiness? Try just you and your guitar and see if you can find a difference between the 2 styles, when it comes to warmth and connection. You may like it again. It's not as if you needed to make more money, really!

Neil – I have been a fan since 1967 when I first saw you on Where the Action Is (I'd come home from school and watch every afternoon). That was all she wrote for me....hooked good and proper!! Bought every "teen magazine" that hinted at you inside. Since the advent of the internet, "access" to you is obviously much improved. I've always considered myself to be your BIGGEST fan (could anyone love you more?).....but I see that there are sooooooo many fans out there who feel as I do. Yet through all of this, you seem like such a humble man. My question is, how do you deal with this worldwide adoration and stay so grounded? Thanks for every note, every bar, every beat, and every chord that you have given to us. Love you more with every passing year!!!

Your music speaks to me very personally. My question is, what is your advice to a band or musician struggling to survive in a sea of bands? Hello and congratulations on the Rock & Roll hall of fame nomination. I and the rest of your fan's know it's been a long time coming.

I think it's amazing to hear songwriters say that they may have had an idea at night, or heard something at lunch and they write it on a napkin or scrap of paper. They put it in a drawer and when they need inspiration they go back to that drawer and pull out past ideas. Are you that kind of writer? Or do you go someplace to get inspiration? Is it a combination? What inspires you? And how have you kept the passion alive for almost 50 years?

    Hello Neil,
I was suprised to find an email in my box saying that we could actually ask you a question. I am almost speechless now, as there are so many I have wanted to ask you for years. Once we even played on the IAIS board and pretended interviewing you and what questions we would ask. I think most today would want to know current things such as:
    1) What inspired you to make this new album one of cover songs and why did you choose the songs you did? was there special meaning behind any one of them?
    2) Most want to know if you will be touring in their area/country in 2011. (I hope you do we all love your music and the awesome staying power it has for many of your fans)
    3) my personal question would be something about music~ when you have a special song in your mind and you know what it is and know what it is going to sound like and it is just dying to get out but it somehow is blocked and it doesnt come as easily as you are thinking, how do you unblock it and get it freed? I have this amazing song that keeps swirling in my mind and I know its there but I am having trouble getting it out, I take out pen and paper and all I get is blank pages. any advice for this songwriter?

in your song 'Lady Magdalene', you sing of three men...the man on the right, the man on the left and 'the me in between'. Given its biblical references, the song may be about just what we think it is. Is it? Or is it a methaphor for something else? If so, what? And why are you 'the man in between'?

P.S. The JLS/Serenade/Beautiful Noise works are your best...they served as my rite of passage...did they for you?

My dream is to see you in the U.S & also to meet you, I know millions do, but I'm the main one!! Hey. I'll even buy you dinner.

My question is....Are you coming back to the U.K. soon? It would be fantastic if you could come to my part of the country, South Devon in the S. West of England, I'll even put you up at my place. Just my silly sense of humour.

Thank you for your time, your music & for giving me so much pleasure over the last 40yrs. Also, thank you for being you.

    Hi Neil,
Love your music and listen to it all the time. Looking forward to your new album of cover songs, but also hoping for a new CD of only your new music. I guess I'm greedy! My question is, do you ever read any Tweets to you on Twitter? Also, do you ever meet with your fans before or after a concert? If so, how do you make that happen? Best of luck with your tour! Love, Anno

    Dear Neil,
Isn't it funny that the memories you keep tend to be the high points in your life? For instance, I can remember the exact place and time I was when I first heard your voice coming out of my transistor radio on the playground at school. And how much I must have tortured my parents by making them turn up the car radio so I could hear it in the back seat every time one of your songs came on. You are one of the few performers that my parents approved of me listening to. I think of your songs as pure poetry and have collected your lyrics as such for many years in my journals. Your words speak to my soul. I would never be able to single out a favorite song of yours but "Hell Yeah" gives me strength to keep trying and never lose sight of my goals. You've convinced me that dreams can come true. I would love to read or write a full biography of you. After all, even though your songs reveal a lot about you and your life at different stages, it is incomplete. Everyone has a story to tell.
I still adore watching your version of The Jazz Singer and I think you should make more movies. I enjoy the cameo spots you do in movies but would love to see more actual movies. I hope to get to one of your concerts someday and would love to meet you and get an autograph. Thank you for many happy memories over the years.

Hi Neil...do you ever wonder why your fans have nothing else to occupy their minds with all of this? It seems like a great fan base would be made up of people with totally diverse interests, not just what you had to eat today. I find this interesting that people believe you would have the time to read all this, plus write a whole new album for them.

    Hi Neil,
Would you ever consider undertaking another project along the lines of your other masterpieces, Tap Root Manuscript or Jonathan Livingston Seagull? These are the immensely intricate and entangled works we, your devoted fans, have come to expect and love from our much-loved favourite wordsmith.

I believe that the time is right for you to embark on such a project. It will be a testament for posterity for the greatest singer song-writer of all time; a beautiful gift to this beautiful world.

Am a huge fan and when I couldn't get to your Tour in 2008 in the UK a school friend and I came over to Toronto to see you. It was a life changing experience – thank you. One of my favourite songs has always been Stones – I think I have read that you will never perform this live.

    Hi Neil;

I'm a long time fan and from what I have seen of you in concert, you always appear to be having a great time and enjoying what you do. On the other hand, sometimes the music and songs might seem a little darker. While you deliver a great balance in your music that's not too much either way, I just wondered what you think.

My question is, how do YOU see yourself? Do you think you are mostly an upbeat guy that really enjoys life; or, maybe one who sees the 'glass-half-empty' more often than the other way around?

    Thanks for taking the question.

    Hello Neil,
When you get a chance to ask your favorite singer a question you find you have more than just one. And I'm sure you get this asked of you all the time.
There is a nasty rumor circulating the internet that you are thinking of ending your touring and doing a show in Vegas. How much truth is there in this rumor?
I think you will have a lot of very disappointed fans. Obviously there will come a time when you will have to call it quits. But I personally think you have a lot of years left before that time comes.

Dear Neil, I am from Suffolk in the UK. When you toured in 2008,there was a chance to ask you a question on Australian Radio. I had the good luck to have my question answered by yourself. It was how does a Singer/Songwriter get to put the tune to the words you have written.
[being as I do not read music, but do know the songs I like] I find this so intrigueing. you did give an answer to my question, it was so quick and the sound quality was not too good, so I am still in the dark.
If its possible to give an answer that I will possibly understand, I will be a very happy lady [and new grandmother lst one].
Here's hoping, sitting now with my fingers crossed, that I will have the luck to have my question answered again. Thanks Sue.

I hope you return to the UK in 2011 so those of us who did not manage to get tickets for the Electric Proms will be able to see you next year. Smaller venues would be good also.

Do you feel that their time, efforts and money are just being wasted, when it could go to a fund or account you could set up...this seems to me to be an egotistical act on the givers part, more than it being something valid and solid for 'good works'...just wondering what you really feel about this strange and childish practice..

He has such great memories of your Pop and him going around singing? Pop played his guitar. Your Pop sang he said. Then my mother died and Pop sold the store. Saved his mother and moved to Bay Ridge where he still owns his brownstone. I was just wandering if your Pop did sing like Pop keeps saying. MAZEL TOV!!! on being nominated for the RRHOF. BIG HUGS!

    Sholem Aleichem Mr. Diamond,
Would you like to look at the book I've written entitled, "Brightless Brighton": The Bright, Dark & Dim Times of My life in Brighton Beach- 'When the 'Bright' Was Gone from Brighton' ...which touches on your parents' small neighborhood undergarments shop which was once-upon-a-long-time-ago located on the block I call 'The 'Times Square' of Brighton Beach Avenue? Diamond's was for me an 'ohceanscape'...for I can directly attribute who I am today to the bright, catalystic spark of gracious-kindness that your mother, Rose showed me and my father- then, a brand-new widower, on one wintery afternoon as she helped me through a very gloomy & bittersweet time as a pre-teen girl.

My question is in regards to the "origin" of some of your songs. In your recollection, are there songs in particular that were inspired by your children, family members, friends, or events, throughout the years? Either a lyric, idea, or melody, etc. from someone, or somewhere that struck you and evolved into a song.
Best wishes, and thanks again for all the joy you have brought to our household thoughout these past 30 plus years.

Hey Neil! Thanks for using my "nacho cheese" joke for your tweet joke! It was a kick to see my joke coming back at me with YOUR name on it! I chortled and I was the one who submitted it!

My mind is brimming with questions but I will try to narrow it down and put them all in one post to avoid clutter on this website. Hope you will be inclined to answer at least one of them!

First since you seem to be a guy who has a wicked sense of humor, do you ever play any pranks on the band while on tour and if so, what is one that really went well?

A FOOD question! Do you still do any cooking and if so when I come to your house what would be your favorite dish to make me?

SPORTS time! What position would you like to play on a baseball eam and what sports figures do you like/admire the most, either past or present?

FINALLY a music question! Is there a song somebody else wrote that when you heard it you said "Darn I wish I'd written that!?

Please consider a rap version of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers"! It would be so cool and a radical way to update that song!

while there was some previously unreleased material on Stages – what else might there be "in hiding" that has yet to make it to CD........either from way back ( such as the Bang material on Double Gold ) – or, B-sides such as "You don't know me" – still waiting to be properly released?
    thanks from the Jersey Shore....

    Hi Neil.

Is there any chance of your complete Bang recordings being released on CD? It is a crime that great songs like "The Long Way Home", "You'll Forget", "Love To Love", "Red Rubber Ball", "The Time Is Now", "Shot Down", etc. have never been available on CD.

    O.K. Neil,

I beleive what everyone really and truely wants to tell you is that they love you very much.......

As for me. I really do love you/ I adore your music which is the best, and that is the only music I listen to on the radio/CD, love the way you look, you are aging beautifully, and of course that voice.. You know Neil it is the voice, that gravel, scratchy voice, that low baratone voice. When you open your mouth to either speak or sing, it is heaven.

I hope that you know that you are admired, adored and respected and loved for all that you have given your fans and especially, when you had those homes built after the hurricane. Those people were so thankful.

I will always keep you in my heart and will always be a fan, and I amso very happy that you will be inducted into the RRH of Fame, although they certainly took their time.

Also, would you ever consider "going full circle" and return to the stage in a smaller venue with just your voice and guitar?

I just returned from a trip that included Israel! I know you have had the nick name of "The Jewish Elvis.' tagged on you. Would you consider doing a show in Israel?
I found the security in that country was superior. I almost felt safer there than in Los Angeles or New York!
The Isralies have a wonderful culture and music is a big part of it. About a year ago, another "super star' played there, as he had promised to 30 years ago, and never went. He felt an obligation to go, and the crowd went crazy for him!.
I am sure their people would be thrilled to have you,"an International Super Star "son" do a show for them. Since you are trying a new venue in Africa, it struck me that Israel is a place where you would find heart felt affection! (and very secure!)

    Much love through music,

I'm from Bakersville, NC, but lived most of my life in Texas. When I was living in Houston in 1968, I think it was, a young singer also lived in the same townhouse complex off Westheimer Blvd. He would bring his guitar out to the courtyard at night and sing for the kids. My son thought he was great. He said his name was Neil Diamond. Was that you? It was not long after that summer that your career skyrocketed, and here you are, 50+ years later, still touching our souls with your music.

Do you personally have the opportunity to see what is received and read the notes, cards, etc.? Or is it handled by someone else, and perhaps you just see a "sampling" because of time restraints? Love your beautiful work. It spans so many genres and so many of the older songs are now standard classics.
Do you write the music to fit the lyrics or vice versa? It seems as though the lyrics would be much harder to write. Especially yours…they’re so poetic.
Also after writing a song is there a way to be certain that your music is original? Are there computer programs with melody data bases that you can check or are you always reasonably confident that it’s safe to publish?

The only thing that eclipses your songwriting, that gives us the inner soul, that gives us " the Feel of Neil Diamond" is the PERFORMER! Nothing compares to being with you, with thousands of your fans, sharing your life's experiences through your music, touching each and every one of us in some way! Nothing compares to seeing you deliver those experiences from the stage! My question, Neil, could there ever be video releases, in whole or in part, of two of your most memorable performances: from the Hot August Night concerts of 1972 at the Greek, which I never saw, but is so awesome to listen to; and the 1981/82 concerts of the Jazz Singer tour, of which the opening with America was just incredible! Two awesome, incredible performances! You've given so much joy, I will follow you to my last day! Thank You Neil!

At your concerts–and I have attended many through the years–what really brings the applause from the audience are your oldies. I've been disappointed in recent years to see that your new albums are more introspective prose than melody, when melody and rhythm were your hallmarks of success. There is more talking than singing. There are fewer tunes that are memorable long after hearing them.
Why have you abandoned your success formula just to rest on your laurels? In the last CD I bought, it seemed that all the melodies and tempos were similar. Seems you're losing your mojo. Tell me that you still have it in you to growl and howl and get everyone clapping their hands!

Some people have dubbed you the "Jewish Elvis." However, it is my understanding that Elvis' Mother was Jewish, so according to Jewish law he was technically Jewish. Therefore, you cannot be the "Jewish Elvis" because Elvis was the " Jewish Elvis." Do you want them just to refer to you as Neil Diamond? Will this question cause some type of identity crisis which will lead to a beautiful, soul searchig song?

Thanks! It has been an honor typing to you!

    Most Sincerely,

Your life experiences come thru in your vocals and that makes them and you much more endearing .. We have listened to many singers of your era that should have stopped singing years ago....This is not the case with you... Obviously you have reached into a part of you that you hadn't tapped when you were younger...Congratulations for finding that part–many live a lifetime and never do...We hope you will be back to Orlando, Fl soon and we are really looking forward to your new album.....Our best to you for great health and happiness........Barbara and Stan

I thought it would be fun to know if you have ever been flabbergasted by your fans at concerts? I just thought it would be fun to know. I look forward to your new album, "Dreams" and am hoping there will be a tour to follow.

    Hi Neil.

First, I have to say, I would LOVE it if you'd put out an album of all your unreleased songs (like Sunflower, My Bouquet, etc.) hint hint

My question is, before you started writing songs, what did you think you would be when you grew up and what did you think your life would be like?

Thanks for all the awesome music!

    Hi Neil,
Do the songs you have chosen to include on Dreams have a special meaning to you because they express personal feelings normally shared with us in your own songs? Or are they just favourite songs that you love to sing?
Fantastic that you are touring again, hope Sth Africa is just one stop on the road and you find your way to Australia! We've been waiting a long time for your return and are well & truly ready for you to put smiles on our faces!

First let me say that if the saying "the goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will" is true then you certainly have achieved "the" goal with the music you have created and graciously shared with us over the years. The songs you have written and recorded are sure to last for generations to come.

Now, my question. Most people your age are either retired or on the verge of retiring. Do you have any plans or desires to retire?

Best of luck with the upcoming Dreams CD. I am looking forward to its release!

    Hi Neil,

What was the inspiration for your version of Midnight Train to Georgia? It's absolutely gorgeous and very touching. The clarity of the words, the emotion in your voice and the beauty of the musical arrangement make it a treat to listen to.

Best of luck with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame vote. We've always known that you and your songs belong there.

    Hi Neil,

Would you ever consider undertaking another project along the lines of your other masterpieces, Taproot Manuscript or Jonathan Livingston Seagull? These are the immensely intricate and entangled works we, your devoted fans, have come to expect and love from our much-loved favourite wordsmith.

I believe that the time is right for you to embark on such a project. It will be a testament for posterity for the greatest singer song-writer of all time; a beautiful, lasting gift to this world.

    Dear Neil,

You have a lot of emulators these days, but I was the first to perform your songs with any authenticity! I have studied you & your writing style more than anyone else past, present or future. With the exception of Andy Kim, who intentionally became Canada's 'Neil Diamond'!

I wrote some songs for you that you've never heard, in particular a song called 'Canada' which is my most downloaded track at iTunes & another is called 'In My Mind'. Of course, I have never been able to submit them to you.

The fact that you are willing to record cover versions is interesting – I invite you to listen to those two songs & see for yourself! I don't know if the moderators here will allow this question to be published or put to you! Perhaps they will but anyway I send you my very best wishes for the future.

If you're going to record other people's songs, I believe you should choose some that are written to fit you like a glove – after all, your songs have been matched in the past with tremendous success with UK artiste Lulu, U.S. act The Monkees and of course UK act UB40! How amazed would you be to know that someone else could accurately write with YOU in mind? 🙂 Now there's a thought!

    Dear Neil,

I remember the day well when I put your CD "12 Songs" into my car's CD player and started driving to work. I actually had to pull over when the song "Hell Yeah" played. My father didn't live in a fish bowl but 90% of that song is an actual conversation that I had with my father over 20 years ago as he was dieing of ALS. It was one of the rare days that my father was able to speak clearly and audibly. What he told me was damn near identical what he said. Every time I listen to that song I miss my father like crazy, get tears in my eyes and hear my dad telling me to pull myself by my boot straps and carry on and be strong.

Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us.

Hello Mr. Neil Diamond, is 'Hell yeah' an autobiographic song (imo it is 😉 ), and while writing it did you maybe think something like:'When I'm gone (hopefully not for the next 100years!), they can play this and hear how I think/thought bout my life?
Your songs come to mind very often, I know all your lyrics and use them as often as 'allowed' 🙂
I'm anxious to know if I'm right bout this, not bout the being right, but more coz 'I got music runnin' in my brain,
Ev'ry song with its own kind of meaning' < (Canta Libre ofc)
And my biggest wish is to know what you had in mind writing each and every song, big wish ? Hell yeah !

Greetz and take care and keep on making us happy,

    Hi again Neil,
I have another question for you. I would also like to say, congratulations on your RRHF nomination and on your new album "Dreams" . I'm looking forward to it!
My question, I was just reading a quote from you from the Australian Post from January 22, 1976. The quote was: A few years back I thought I only had a couple of years left until I retired, but I think I've grown out of that now and would like to go on writing for as long as possible – say another 30 years." You have had tremendous success since 1976, especially with your last three albums. Now you are doing a number of interviews and specials such as the Electric Prom and a South Africa tour, are you still writing and planning to tour more? And, do you wish people wouldn't dredge up old comments? Just wondering.
Thanks Neil for taking the time to do this,

I am a late bloomer on all fronts and I discovered you late in your career but I can relate to everything you sing about and what you feel about life. According to me, every thing I love in music and in life is 20 years too late, was I born 20 years too late??? You live with someone 20 years younger and I am am the same age, living with someone 24 years younger. Is this normal? or were we born too late!!! (20 years too late!) Been a fan since 1972 and 'Song Sung Blue'. Since then I have collected all your albums, each better than the previous, and was at 'Woburn Abbey' in '77 (still unforgetable). Have my own greatest hits on computer that I constantly play with my grandkids pictures as album covers ( they also sing along). Have seen you since then at NEC and in Glasgow SEC and Hampden, I was the voice that called out ' Go On Neil ' as you were starting ' Glory Road '( My favorite) at SEC 2005, sorry if I put you off, saw you glance up on screen. My question, love the new arrangement of ' I'm a Believer ' when can we expect more? Sweet Caroline, Cracklin' Rosie. Next time your in Scotand drop me an e-mail and come to Blantyre and see David Livingston Memorial. As the Spock would say ' Live Long and Prosper '.

I am so glad you are still doing concerts and hope after Africa, you will tour the US again and stay in Philly. I have followed you immeninently all these yrs. I lived in Tx for only almost 2 yrs, and got to see you there too.

If you recall when you were in Philly last, King, your drummer was thrilled to see a young fan and gave a set of his stix to her...that was my daughter. I emailed "thx" to you both, but not sure if either of you got them. We are so thrilled to have them & will cherish them always, as my memories of you in concert each time I have the honor to see you. What I would give to personally meet you...can I ever meet you in person? I suppose that is the number 1 question I have & please come to Philly! Hopefully, you can write me back and a belated Shanah Tovah!

Kia Ora Neil from New Zealand. I am so thrilled as just this morning I heard you were coming downunder for a tour of our lovely country. Is there anything in particular you look forward to seeing or doing while you are here, time permiting of course? Your concert in Wellington means so much to me as last time you performed there 6years ago my ex and I were on the verge of splitting and so I wasn't in such a good space. Your concert next year will see me on a new career path and enjoying new opportunities in life so your concert on the 4th March will be a celebration for me Aroha Neil.Safe travels Shirley

P.S Just to say I saw your Diamond Uncut interview with Sonia Krugear online this morning also and your dog Polka is gorgeous. What a darling she is. I too love dogs especially the smaller breeds so I would've adopted her also if I'd seen her. Really neat to see her having so much fun.

Dear Neil: Would you consider coming to NJ in the future to surprise a singer friend of mine at one of his dinner shows? He does all of your songs beautifully and sounds just like you! I often tell him that you sound like him 🙂 Please visit his website @ http://www.dinnerwithdiamondllc.com, & let me know if you would ever make his dream a reality. Thanks. Genevieve

I have loved your music your writing your face your everything since I was 16 years of age. I am now 50 and still love everything about you, including the changes thru the years.
I have had a connection to your music and have understood every word and its meaning, its like I was a part of you.... all this time.

I feel bad that the women you believed to be your soul mates who would understand and support your dream and your passion did not
because you were and are all worth it.
Love is loving your partner's passion supporting it and walking the line with him.

May God bless you and yes may the man upstairs keep you going...

    Hi Neil,
Have you ever misinterpreted a question that left you devastated, like this one did?
Have been a true fan since concert in Cow Palace in 1985, have been in the same frame of mind since then, when in NY concert really goofed. Iam I said has always made me cry when listening to that song. But there was a song that also brought tears in a NY concert. Wish the name comes back to mind. Such love and tender words in that song, made me believe that wholesomeness does exist. Please return to NY for a concert at Madison Square Garden again soon.
Would love to meet you backstage. Congrats on the nomination. There's no greater feeling of joy to be rewarded for what a person loves to do. You, Neil have pleased, encouraged and uplifted many.
    Love you.
    Viv from NY.

    Hi Neil,
Have you ever made a misinterpretation of a question asked, like this one did?. Then trying desperately to reverse the answer?
Have been a fan ever since the '85 concert in Cow Palace, CA. (The halogram was excellent).
I am I said has always made me cry because I understood (and felt) the words so perfectly.
There was another song that was teary for me also that you sang at a concert in NY. Wish could remember the name. The words evolked a strong feeling of commitment, love, and instilled in me the thought that wholesomeness DOES exist and could be lived between two people.
Congrats on the nomination. There is no greater joy than to be rewarded for what a person loves doing. You, Neil have encouraged,
enlightened many people and have brought happiness to all who listen to your words and tunes.
Would you come back to NY for a concert at Madison Square Garden soon?
Also would love to meet you backstage, or sit in one of those "tushy" seats.
    Love you Neil, as always.
    Viv from NY

Neil, I haved loved you and your music since the late 60's, tell me did we ever stand a chance together. LOL. No my question is I have a lot of songs where you have mention Jesus Christ. I know you are jewish, but just wanted to know if Jesus was in your heart a little? He is a fantastic person, and I believe you should get to know him more.

Thank you, Man of God, for fulfilling your calling. You have touched many hearts, including mine for 40 years.

"Whose Hands are These" reminds me of a Psalm of David. It is beautiful and comforting.

Neil- What qualities do you admire in a person (either male or female?)
If you met the woman of your dreams (you believe your soul mate) and say she was already taken, would you leave her alone or try to pursue a relationship, be it friendship or romantic? And one last question. Have you ever written a song about some one you have noticed in your travels, say a smile, an argument someone is having, a child's excitement, an infectious laugh, or just a beautiful person, you've seen at a distance.

    Thank you.

Neil ... Who / what are you seeking? How much love is too much? How much love is not enough? Would a soul-mate qualify?
