In less than five years Barbados-born Robyn Rihanna Fenty has become one of the world's biggest singing sensations with blockbuster hits like "Umbrella," "Disturbia" and "Please don't stop the music."
Known simply as Rihanna, the 22-year-old singer has already won three Grammy awards and countless others.
Rihanna moved to the United States at the age of 16 to try and make it as a recording artist.
In 2005, Rihanna released her first studio album called "Music of the Sun" which peaked in the top ten on the Billboard charts.
That album featured the hit single "Pon de Replay" which was Rihanna's first big song for mainstream audiences. But it wasn't until her second album in 2006 that cemented the singer as a staple of the pop music scene.
"A Girl Like Me" featured some of the year's most popular songs including "SOS," "Unfaithful" and "Break it Off." It was the first time one of her songs reached the number one spot on the Billboard charts.
Rihanna's third album was another huge hit with songs like "Umbrella," "Take a Bow," "Disturbia" and "Please don't stop the music," all reaching the top of the charts.
The album, which was called "Good Girl Gone Bad" was nominated for a total of nine Grammy awards and eventually went on to win the award for best rap collaboration.
Rihanna was out with her fourth studio album last year and today, the singer is out with her latest collection of songs called "Loud."
