David Hasselhoff is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "The Most Watched TV Star in the World.” You probably remember him as the hunky lifeguard in the 90’s TV series Baywatch. Before he rode the jet ski, he starred in Knight Rider – the 1980’s U.S. science-fiction series. In between those two television programs he launched a successful German-language pop career.

But you don’t become the most watched TV star in the world on only two programs. Hasselhoff also played Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr. on U.S. soap opera The Young and the Restless in the late 70’s and 80’s.

In the 2000’s he judged contestants on America’s Got Talent and then was judged as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

He's publicly battled alcohol and in 2007 a home video surfaced of an intoxicated Hasselhoff eating a cheeseburger on the floor.

His daughter, Taylor Ann was filming the video and repeatedly says to her famous father, "Tell me you are going to stop." After the incident Hasselhoff admitted that he had suffered a “brief relapse... . I have seen the tape. I have learned from it and I am back on my game.”

When you are trying to stay sober... who do you do it for? Yourself? Your daughters? Or the millions of people that have followed your career?

When is this man going to bow out and just live a quiet life? I hope he learns something when his new show proves to be a ratings disaster.

When his new show fails, perhaps he will then leave us alone and retire. Enough is enough.

Me growing up in west germany and at the time was a active Hasselhoff fan, I remember David Hasselhoff back in Germany in 1989. He contributed in tearing down the wall that seperated east and west Berlin with the song hit " I`ve been looking for freedom". In his twinkling leather jacket. He was a mega star. With no doubt, he gave the german people hope for a new beginning, a fresh start. I say thank you for taking part and supporting the german people in one of germany`s finest moments back in 1989.

How can anyone be critical of this person? You don't know his life. We all keep holding onto our dreams til they fade into a vapor. Why should he not be cheered on, doing the same? Especially if it includes helping his children gain a leg up in society. It is clear that you critical people are simply jealous of his success. GET A LIFE!!

Two questions: Why a reality show when celebs often mention 'lack of privacy' as one of the pitfalls of stardom?

As someone who's had success in both prime time & daytime TV, why are so many actors overly critical of daytime TV when many of them started their careers on a soap??

    Thanks much!

Please give the world a break and just go away. Nothing worst than a has been using his daughters to try and relight something that is dead.
You are perceived as as pathetic, burned out hack. Guess that ego thing has not looked in the mirror lately!

I remember my childhood days anxiously waiting for the weekly show of the Knight Rider serial. Those were the best days of my life, living as a child, no worries and no haste. This article reminded me of all!
