Live from Abu Dhabi Connect the World takes you on a journey across continents, investigating the stories that are changing our world.
She first played Roland Garros in 2007 and this year Andrea Petkovic is back to win it all.
The baseliner has advanced to the quarterfinals of the French Open where she will play Maria Sharapova later this week. The 23 year old was born in Tuzla, Bosnia, but now lives in Germany.
She speaks French, German, English and Serbian.
Andrea is now ranked number 12 in the world and has her eye on the top ten. When she’s not on the court, she’s writing, reading and working on her trademark “Petko” dance.
Now is your chance to connect with the tennis star. Post your questions for Andrea below and please note where you are writing from.
How many hours per day do you practice and how important the volume of daily practice affects your performance?
What strategy do you believe will be effective against the currently in form Sharapova?
wish you continued success in your quest for a further climb up the ranking. two questions i.e. how did the much talked about "Petko" dance come about and since I havent had the pleasure of seeing "your" dance where can it be seen? thx
Congratulations and continued success on the tour. What's your balance for discipline (practice, conditioning etc) versus perspective (humor, other interests) to keep sharp and improving? Looking forward to some good matches on the U.S. summer tour.
How do you deal with loud opponents like Sharapova? Does it bother you or anything? Why do female tennis players scream so much after every shot? Best of luck to you.
I know its far from now but, any plans on going to Stanford or Carlsbad (San Diego) for the U.S. Open Summer Series? Also, are you planning to enter doubles for the 2012 Olympics? Would love to see my two favorite Germans, you and Julia Goerges, play together. Good luck against Sharapova, I know you can do it.
What is your opinion on Roland Garros not issuing the transcripts from player interviews to the general public, at the request of the ITWA? Has there been any or much talk from the players in the locker-room, afraid of something being published out of context? Good luck in your next round 🙂
Sorry, forgot to say that I am from the U.S.
Hello Andrea, we love watching you here in New Zealand. You have brought something different to women's tennis. Love your moonwalk...is it easier or harder on the clay courts?
What do you think WTA can do to encourage and bring more women into tennis. If you look at men's tennis, the top 10 are very good – anyone can win if they play well, and has little bit of luck, but women's tennis seems to be quite different...the no.1 player has been consistent but she has not won a grand slam, then when you don't have the Williams sisters, Clisters, Henins etc; while it gives chances to other players but the level of competition is not as intense and viewers tend not to watch as they would say the men's game.
And do you think women should be paid same as the men?
What is your favourite tournament?
Best of luck, and hope you win!!!
Which is your favorite type of surface and your favorite tournament?
I am impress by your fighting spirit.
Is it something that you had to work on, or you always had it in you ?
Will you go on a date with me in Deutschland? (Replies to steve.christie@blueyonder.co.uk)
How much mental preparation do you do before a match? Do you meditate? Do you listen to stuff like the "Rocky" theme song? Hope you win the Championship!
Hello Andrea Petkovic and CNN friends,
I would like an answer from Andrea Petkovic on the following questions:
– How will you Improve Siberia and its Allies?
– What can we expect from you in 2011 and beyond?
I am awaiting Andrea Petkovic’s replies.
