Jeffrey Wright is an American actor best known for his Golden Globe and Emmy Award performance in the critically acclaimed mini-series "Angels in America."
The Washington-born star has also been lauded for his work on stage and in films including Shaft, Broken and Source Code.
But Wright's biggest reward has come from helping the people of Sierra Leone rebuild their lives.
He first traveled to the country 10 years ago, just as the country was coming out of its decade long civil war.
Wright fell in love with the country and saw its potential for growth.
In 2007, he set up the Taia Peace Foundation which is dedicated to stimulating economic development in Sierra Leone by initiating projects that employ local villagers.
Most recently, the foundation celebrated the completion of a 29 kilometer road in the country's far east. Not only was the road reconstructed, but the money to build it was filtered back into the local community.
