The very name of Cairo is the stuff of legend. Evoking images of Pharaohs and pyramids,  golden tombs and desert landscapes.

We were given the chance to witness some of the city's secrets, first-hand - thanks to a leading Egyptian architect, Karim El Hayawan, who took us to see the Cairo you won't always find guidebooks.
