Today marks 35 years since the Iran Hostage Crisis. It was a turning point in Iran's relationship with the United States. But three decades on, Iran shouldn't only be viewed through the prism of that event. That's according to photojournalist Nafise Motlaq who uses the link between fathers and daughters to challenge stereotypes about her homeland.

Last summer, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed veteran Italian-Swedish diplomat Staffan de Mistura as the new special envoy tasked with seeking a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Syria. He's the third U.N. envoy to Syria in as many years and says that to achieve any progress on the ground the international community needs to focus on iconic steps.
